The NIMBY realities raise their head again. These are the environmentalists who want no change against the environmentalists who want technological change. They will slow down the development of American mines and factories if they can. Americans will therefore pay higher prices to overseas suppliers and Americans will not get a lot of jobs they could have. Our balance of payments will not improve. 

Can these opponents find a happy medium agreement? If history is any example they will not, at least any time soon. EVs will lose some luster with this battle.
