Devon 0 DA August 23, 2021 Not anytime in the near future. Not only is green energy still not able to support even 20% of the global energy consumption but the price of redirecting our grids isn't financially viable. Politicians can say whatever they want but the pollution from lithium batteries and the fiberglass wind turbines cause damage to the environment themselves. Big business knows this and they know we're atleast 2 decades away from seeing any real progress from green energy. I'm willing to bet that major players in the oil&gas industry will crank up the volume and grab as much profit as they can get over the next 20 yrs. And by then who knows what type of progress they'll have made in the research and development sector of their companies.
Sebastian Meana + 278 August 26, 2021 (edited) Petrochemicals, there are endless uses and more uses appearing for solvants, chemical, reduction gents, also waste to syngas, using plastic waste to make syngas to make synthetic oil to make plastic again, which are very useful. Using CO2 capture from gas or coal fired powerplants to make synfuel among other stuff. Edited August 26, 2021 by Sebastian Meana

nsdp + 449 eh August 28, 2021  Yes, all marine usage for vessels over 5000tons displacement are switching to JP8 due to sulfur content. Look at the record tonnage of ships going to the breakers this year.
