MIT Created the World's First 'Psychopath' Robot

Recommended Posts

Scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have now created the world’s first ‘psychopath’ robot. Researchers at the MIT media lab have trained an AI algorithm nicknamed “Norman”—a reference to the character of Norman Bates in Psycho—to exhibit psychopathic tendencies by exposing it exclusively to gruesome and violent content from what they say is Reddit content page that is “dedicated to document and observe the disturbing reality of death.” Fortunately, Norman’s only capability is image captioning, which means the most damage it can do is produce some pretty chilling Rorschach inkblot descriptions.

As if we don’t have enough real ones...who’s going to stop this one when he outsmarts his coders and rewrites his programming for world domination?

Bad idea, bad try. “Psychopath” is the scientist, the AI is “psychopath’s monster”

I predict many jobs will be lost to psychopathic robots in industries such as politics, insurance, lawyers, IcE agents, banking...Weirding out the world is exactly what we don't need right now.

Could have chosen to make it empathetic, compassionate, kind... but sure go with psychopath. That says more about the MIT scientists and what fascinates them.
