Meredith Poor + 895 MP December 22, 2021 WTF? Capture CO2 out of the air, 'electrolyze' it to make CO (Carbon Monoxide), let it sit in an airtight tank at room temperature, and it spontaneously converts to CO2 and graphite. Anyone that needs graphite can pretty much make it out of 'thin air'. Any analyst that is proclaiming that there is a 'shortage' of graphite should be sent back to nursery school. MP - I think there has been some confusion over the type of graphite. Note this article the graphite required occurs naturally. It must be difficult to make. I didn't know that there are different types of graphite until I looked..

You can make gold in a nuclear reactor, just need mercury... Or you can mine it... Hint for ivory tower ignorants, Graphite is mined... Not "created" Do you DO anything, or just sit in your ivory tower and pretend to be a chemist?

Again, as we discussed in a different thread. It's not a fossil fuel source for this purpose. It's a source of raw materials. I mean, you can burn mined graphite just like coal too (it's pure carbon). It's just that it's special physical properties make it to valuable to use in that way most of the time.

Yea we don't have facilities that do this, and we won't build them because it doesn't make any sense financially.  Also, there's an EV boom?
