Cry me a river of crocodile tears. Russia's troops are making good progress, despite losses. They do have an utmost respect for Ukrainians, but none for you. Who only ever pick up fights against unarmed people you outnumber at least 10x. American forces are viewed as the scum of the world over because of it, and Ukraine is your Afghanistan 2.0

Look at Panama and Pandora Papers etc. Russia appears to be one of the least corrupt countries in the world, and USA appears to be the most. Viewed objectively, and not through the propaganda's prism. Big Brother, who cannot lie, will settle this score for good. We'll see about that. A lot of tanks you see are not destroyed, but left behind because they had a problem slowing down other vehicles. They'll pick them up later.

I think they relate more to Ukrainians and Belarussians than to Afghanis. These are people of their own culture and they share the repression of Putin and his cronies.

Yes, our leaders are somewhat corrupt! They are not yet dictators like Putin. They do the best they can to take over and rule the middle class and make lucrative deals with China. In the next election they will , GOD willing, lose much of their power. We need to rid our culture, and government of communists, socialists, and their fellow travelers. These people are now in control of much of our culture. 

Maybe Putin is honest, I know that he has little concern for the well being of his people but plenty of concern for his crony capitalists, and they take the money. Putin has whatever he needs from his own government which he rules, for now.

Putin is not a dictator, he is genuinely popular. Look up his approval ratings.

Why it matters: Germany has for months come under intense criticism for its response to Russia's aggression toward Ukraine. The government said its "historical responsibilities" prevented it from shipping arms to conflict zones, and had previously blocked other NATO allies from transferring German-origin weapons to Ukraine.

What they're saying: "The Russian attack marks a turning point. It is our duty to do our best to help Ukraine defend against the invading army of Putin. That's why we're supplying 1,000 anti-tank weapons and 500 stinger missiles to our friends in the Ukraine," Scholz tweeted.

• Germany will also lift its ban on other countries exporting German-origin weapons, allowing the Netherlands to transfer 400 rocket-propelled grenade launchers to Ukraine.

The big picture: Germany is the largest economy and most powerful country in the European Union, making its voice and policy positions critical to the effectiveness of the West's response to Russia's invasion.

• Germany is highly reliant on Russian natural gas and had been an obstacle in discussions about imposing the harshest sanctions on Moscow, fearing the economic and energy reverberations.
• Massive public pressure, including from Ukrainian officials, appears to have led Germany to drop its opposition to a number of the toughest measures, including halting the certification of the Russia-to-Germany Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

Netherlands sending 200 Stinger missiles to Ukraine; More military aid en route

The Netherlands will deliver 200 Stinger anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine as soon as possible, the Cabinet said on Saturday. The decision comes after additional requests from Ukraine for military goods. For this request, a careful, but shortened, assessment against the arms export criteria took place, according to a letter sent by Foreign Affairs Minister Wopke Hoekstra and Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren to the Tweede Kamer.

In addition to the 200 Stinger missiles, the Netherlands already dispatched the military equipment it committed to providing "for Ukrainian self-defense against an armed attack by Russia," Hoekstra said. Some of that material was already sent, with more to be dispatched as soon as possible.

The cybersecurity assistance the Netherlands planned to provide earlier this week was delayed due to the Russian invasion. The government is still working with Ukrainian authorities to investigate how Dutch cyberdefense teams can be deployed to assist, Hoekstra said.

On Friday, military equipment was on its way from the Netherlands to Ukraine, Ollongren said on the television program Jinek.

The Cabinet previously announced it would supply 100 sniper rifles with associated ammunition, five weapon location radars, two battlefield surveillance radars, metal detectors and two wire-guided detection robots to detect naval mines. It would also send 3,000 combat helmets and 2,000 fragmentation vests, according to the Ministry of Defense.

The delivery was slightly delayed due to Russia’s complete invasion of Ukraine. "We had a different logistical plan, but the attack by the Russians changed that," Ollongren said.

During a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked for even more military aid on Friday. The Ministry of Defense was already looking into the request that day, Ollongren said. “We’re going to do our very best to help,” she said. 

The Netherlands is also looking into how humanitarian and financial aid can be given to Zelensky's government. More clarity on this should be provided in the coming days.

Dutch fighter jets sent to patrol NATO airspace in Eastern Europe had already completed their first full day Friday, according to the Ministry of Defense.
