Gavin, the hot-shot governor took you from a surplus to total out-of-control billions of dollars in debt. That's the proof!

Good night Jay, have a wonderful night knowing that when you wake up the States debt went up while you slept!

I couldn't care less. We planned for this, technology always goes in a boom and bust cycle. The new AI gold rush is just getting going. We will have a surplus again in a year.

Gavin for President in '28!

You will never see a world without the use of fossil fuels in one form or another! Your green revolution if anything is only made possible by fossil fuels.

I actually agree with this.

FF arent ever going to go away in their entirety and petrochemicals never. We need them for everyday products as well like clothing, fertilizers for food production, roads to name a few and thats a fact. You are correct when you say FF got us to where we are and lifted whole countries if nor continents out of poverty. The industrial revolution based on coal made the UK the hegemon of that era. The US it was oil, the US is in danger of being left behind with the next revolution as China is miles ahead of the US with renewables.

If there are less pollutive forms of powergen in the form of renewables then why not use them?? Powergen production is changing globally to renewables and that also is a fact. EV's will become a major player if not the dominant mode of transport by 2050. Those on here denying what is happenning in front of their eyes must truly be blind.

Gavin is so in love with himself and is the reason nothing gets better but worse.

AI like the U.S. Military giving up what we now call the internet was released to fast with no parameters and has screwed up at minimum 3 generations of children.

AI is a technology that should be strictly prohibited for public use, it will repeat the mistake of the internet but on a scale not ever seen before In our lifetime.

Finally, someone who sees the forest from the trees, anything green will give us will still have major fossil fuels used to make it whatever it evolves into.

Gavin is kicking Republican butt! I can't wait for his debates with Puddin Ron.

Your problem is that California leads the world and you aren't part of it.

"The future happens here first" - Gavin Newsom

btw- CA has $30 billion in cash in our rainy day fund that has yet to be touched.

Between AI and the geothermal lithium mines CA funds are about to go wild.

Gavin may be a local popular pretty boy, but he has no credibility outside of California in where he has run into the ground.

Broke COVID-19 mandates to entertain at 5-star restaurants, has the attitude The law applies to there but not for me.

As far a any accomplishments, well just look at the State of California, THAT’S HIS RECORD.

Gavin reminds me of a very old saying, He is a lot like puppy shit the more to kick it the more it stinks. California will never be out of the RED column, especially with these insane ideas of reparations! There is not one living black American in California living that was part of the Black African trade Sellers, selling their own into slavery worldwide, and it was ongoing long before the South here in America got involved.

Everybody in California wants unicorns and rainbows and their mindset is just as irrational!

The best thing for America is you have a major earthquake along all the fault lines and the entire state falls into the Pacific Ocean.

Since education isn't your strength let me help you out with some geology. California's faults are transform, they just move north and south not east and west or up and down.

Gavin already said no to that silly reparations thing.

We aren't in the red now. We have enough cash on hand to cover the budget deficit if we wanted to. We are far ahead of Texas with our much lower debt to GDP ratio. But I understand that you aren't capable of understanding such financially sophisticated concepts.

Maybe a tornado will take out your town and we will be better off.

Yes it is under construction. The transition takes time. The new electrified segment between San Jose and SF starts service next year.

Jay,

You seem like a good person, last conversation about anything other than what this site is about.

They are years and billions over-scheduled budget and completion per contract.

Yeah that is because our last Republican governor Arnold appointed a panel of morons to lay out the original HSR plan. We have been working on fixing it ever since. First step was to never elect another Republican governor.

Since oil is primarily used for transport I am pretty sure that all transport switching away from oil and thus decreasing oil demand and thus price is relevant to oilprice.com.

It is "Oil price" not "pro-oil news."

You can short oil (make money off oil going down).

You talk as if oil will disappear, Google the amount of products used everyday life and business because of petrochemicals!

Without them you no green dream, you don't mine it, refine it, make tooling and machinery To produce anything green.

On a National Security standpoint, your green dream won't power missile technology, Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, and Space Force.

As I told you before. Green hydrogen can be used to create any hydrocarbon required. So yes oil can be completely replaced. It might take 100 years but the day will come.

The California battery production will soon be 100% green and meeting the majority of the nation's demand in a decade. The lithium brine is a byproduct of the geothermal energy wells:

Governor Newsom Visits Lithium Valley to Highlight Momentum on Becoming Global Source for Battery Production

Published: Mar 20, 2023

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Lithium Valley is on track to become one of the world’s largest sources of lithium, the essential material for EV batteries – positioning California to be the global hub for battery production and a leader in securing a clean energy future.

IMPERIAL VALLEY – Governor Gavin Newsom today visited Imperial Valley to see the progress being made on transforming the Salton Sea region into a global hub for battery production, essential to the worldwide transition to zero-emission vehicles. California’s Imperial Valley contains some of the largest lithium deposits in the world, specifically underground near the Salton Sea – a region also known as Lithium Valley.

Experts believe Lithium Valley could provide enough lithium to meet all of America’s future demand and more than one-third of global demand – supercharging the transition to zero-emission vehicles.

During his visit, the Governor toured Controlled Thermal Resources in Imperial for a demonstration of safe lithium mining and battery production. He also met with local elected officials, community groups and other stakeholders to discuss ways the state is putting the needs of local Imperial Valley communities first as the region undergoes significant economic transformation. Earlier in the day, the Governor visited a project that is being implemented as part of the Salton Sea Management Program to enhance wetland habitat and improve public health and environmental conditions at the Salton Sea.

What Governor Newsom said: “We’re building a hub for global innovation while ensuring this transformation benefits communities right here in Imperial Valley. California is poised to become the world’s largest source of batteries, and it couldn’t come at a more crucial moment in our efforts to move away from fossil fuels. The future happens here first – and Lithium Valley is fast-tracking the world’s clean energy future.

in California’s Imperial Valley, near the Salton Sea, companies are racing to take advantage of the region’s deposits. The location is being called Lithium Valley.

New Plant Could Generate up to 20,000 Tons of Lithium per Year

One such company is Energy Source Minerals, which is making strides towards producing lithium using an existing electric plant fueled by underground geothermal resources. In a 60 Minutes interview, CEO Eric Spooner says the plant could generate up to 20,000 tons of lithium per year, which is equivalent to the annual production of around 500,000 electric vehicles.

With domestic lithium production, the US Department of Energy and automakers can enjoy lower production costs and reduced carbon emissions from transporting the metal across the world. The development of domestic lithium resources positions the US as a global leader in sustainable electric power.

100 YEARS, The was the first Industrial Revolution, your dreaming! If in WW2 Germany made oil from coal and the first synthetic lubricant why do liberals feel your agenda is everyone's agenda? Now I completely understand why the Left always fails to do anything of substance but get in the way!

You all are the adolescence in the room and your only means to communicate is by being the loudest and most obnoxious people!

That is the reason why every State run by the Left is number 1 in drugs, murder and driving away businesses, so let your State crumble into the abyss because the rest of us don't care.

The first industrial revolution started in the 1760s. 260 years ago.

Germany's synthetic fuel was insanely expensive and they suffered from tremendous fuel shortages that were a very big part of why they lost. Do you ever wonder why you don't know such basic historical facts?

We live in a democracy. Everyone's agenda is irrelevant. The only agenda that matters is that of the majority and whatever rights the majority chooses to give to the minority.

If left states are number 1 in driving away business then why do they have the largest economies per capita?

The states with the highest murder rates are mostly red states. You just don't associate with truth or reality do you?

In 2020, the states with the highest murder rates stayed roughly the same after making this change: Mississippi in first, then Louisiana, Alabama, South Carolina, Missouri, Illinois, Maryland, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Georgia.Jan 27, 2023

So if you have a majority of 6 of 10 people that say let's kick the hell out of anyone from California, are your good with the majority no matter what insanely stupid agenda they have?

By that assumption, we would still be under England's Rule! The signers of The Declaration of Independence we not a majority of everyone but stated it put their lives on the line of loss of their lives if failed.

The North was not a majority over the South to free the slaves yet we went against our own people to enforce that.

Modern-day were the people all in on Vietnam, Iraq, or Afghanistan? Yet we sent thousands of Americans to die or be maimed for life, Was there a majority? Don’t use the word majority when the majority is not there. Almost every elected official as soon as 15 minutes after taking the oath to office are in violation of Article 2.

As someone from a family that has had or been in every war since WW1, Police Action, and NATO deployment, the word majority is an offensive word.

The Declaration of Independence is not a legal document.

A sufficient majority of legislators can propose change to the constitution. 66%

Article V of the Constitution provides two ways to propose amendments to the document. Amendments may be proposed either by the Congress, through a joint resolution passed by a two-thirds vote, or by a convention called by Congress in response to applications from two-thirds of the state legislatures.

Then 75% majority of the state legislatures to ratify unless Congress calls for state conventions.

Interesting that the Constitution lets just legislators change the Constitution, no?

Oh and yes there was a majority for Iraq and Afghanistan at the beginning. In fact it was enough to conceptually change the Constitution in the case of Afghanistan.

When asked whether or not the United States should attack a country that has not attacked the United States first, the American public's opinion was in support with 51%, whereas when Iraq was embedded into the question the attitude shifted and there was a shift to 66% of Americans agreeing that the U.S. should be able to invade Iraq first. But of course that was because the Republicans lied to them about WMD.

Not surprisingly, public support for responding militarily to the 9/11 attacks ran high in early fall 2001. A Washington Post/ABC News poll released two days after the Twin Towers fell found that 93 percent of Americans backed taking military action against whoever was responsible for the 9/11 attacks. More than eight in ten respondents said their support extended to going to war.

The Constitution fully empowers a simple majority to chose our energy sources.

Majorities of Americans Prioritize Renewable Energy, Back Steps to Address Climate Change

But many foresee problems ahead with transition to renewables and oppose breaking from fossil fuels altogether

How we did this

A new Pew Research Center survey finds large shares of Americans support the United States taking steps to address global climate change and back an energy landscape that prioritizes renewable sources like wind and solar. At the same time, the findings illustrate ongoing public reluctance to make sweeping changes to American life to cut carbon emissions. Most Americans oppose ending the production of gas-powered vehicles by 2035 and there’s limited support for steps like eliminating gas lines from new buildings.

This report comes about a year after the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act introduced policies and incentives meant to dramatically reduce the country’s reliance on fossil fuels, a signature part of the Biden administration’s efforts on climate change. The survey takes stock of how Americans feel about related questions on climate, energy and environmental policy, including proposed changes to how Americans power their homes and cars and what to do about the impacts communities face from extreme weather.

The Pew Research Center survey of 10,329 U.S. adults conducted May 30 to June 4, 2023, finds:

  • 74% of Americans say they support the country’s participation in international efforts to reduce the effects of climate change.
  • 67% of U.S. adults prioritize the development of alternative energy sources such as wind, solar and hydrogen power over increasing the production of fossil fuel energy sources.

By sizable margins, Americans support a number of specific policy proposals aimed at reducing the effects of climate change through targeting greenhouse gas emissions and carbon in the atmosphere:

  • Overwhelming majorities support planting about a trillion trees around the world to absorb carbon emissions (89%) and requiring oil and gas companies to seal methane gas leaks from oil wells (85%).
  • 76% favor providing a tax credit to businesses that develop carbon capture technologies and 70% support taxing corporations based on their carbon emissions.
  • 61% favor requiring power plants to eliminate all carbon emissions by the year 2040.
A bar chart showing that large shares of Americans support the U.S. taking steps to address climate and prioritize renewable energy.

In 2022 alone, due to high fuel prices and growth, renewables reduced ER- COT wholesale electricity market costs by about $11B (~$920M per month). This analysis estimates that renewables have saved the average residential household about $200 per year over the past five years.
