Guillaume Albasini + 851 June 29, 2018 Ken Isaacs, Trump’s nominee for running the International Organization for Migration (IOM) , came last in the race for the top U.N. migration job behind Costa Rica’s Laura Thompson and Portugal’s Antonio Vitorino, the eventual winner of the contest. IOM has been led by an American for 50 years and this defeat reflects a huge erosion in U.S. global standing under Trump. The unilateral path set by the current US administration and the continuous attacks against multilateral institutions are weakening the US influence in the international institutions. The Trump administration is now expected to retaliate by cutting funding for the IOM, for which the US is the biggest donor. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/jun/29/un-trump-migration-agency-snub-nomination-rejected-iom
