We’re Addicted to Prosperity

The two prime mover of transportation, the jet turbine and the diesel engine, provide the backbone of our prosperity – commerce and recreation.  The demand for products refined from crude oil other than gasoline – that is, the multitude of chemicals and by-products as well as aviation fuel, diesel fuel, and asphalt that the military and all infrastructures are dependent upon, support our current lifestyle addiction.  High-energy societies enjoy a much higher standard of living than their traditional predecessors, and these gains have led to expectations of continued improvements.  Published July 24, 2018 in Fox & Hounds  http://www.foxandhoundsdaily.com/2018/07/were-addicted-to-prosperity/

well, remember that  High-energy societies, are now using electronic vehicles as well as gas powered ones, and that will only take a bigger chunk out of oil as we progress
