Germany Upholds Export, Investment Guarantees For Iran Business Despite U.S. Pressure

Recommended Posts

Germany will continue to offer export and investment guarantees for companies doing business with Iran, the economy ministry said on Monday, adding Berlin remained in dialogue with the U.S. on exemptions for German companies from Iran sanctions. “Export guarantees and investment guarantees from the Federal Ministry of Economics are still available to companies,” the economy ministry said.

Germany is simply upholding their end of an agreement that the US didn't. Seems to me,  how more countries continue to support the initial agreement.

It will be interesting to see reaction on this, because in my opinion the other signatories to the agreement will also keep their deal with Iran...

Few days ago , I found info that Germany’s powerful central bank – Deutsche Bundesbank – passed a new financial policy that will effectively bar the transfer of nearly $400 million in cash to the Iranian regime. Germany newspaper BILD reported  that Iran’s regime seeks to use the European-Iranian trade bank in the northern German city of Hamburg – with the approval of the German government – to transfer the nearly $400 million in cash to circumvent pending US sanctions. Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government – widely considered one of the mos pro-Iran regime friendly European governments – has not commented on whether it will allow the roughly $400 million in cash to be sent to Iran to undercut the US sanctions campaign. I very much hope that the German government will make it's decisions about this, and stop with this kind of "support"

European Union and E3 (Britain, France, Germany) issue a joint statement on reimposition of US sanctions on Iran: "We deeply regret the re-imposition of sanctions by the US, due to the [US] withdrawal from the JCPOA."...

- The JCPOA is working and delivering on its goal, namely to ensure that the Iranian programme remains exclusively peaceful, as confirmed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in 11 consecutive reports. It is a key element of the global nuclear non-proliferation architecture, crucial for the security of Europe, the region, and the entire world. We expect Iran to continue to fully implement all its nuclear commitments under the JCPOA.

The EU didn't mention their strategy as the big companies start pulling away.

WH will consider Germany and allies to be "captives" of Iran, I suppose. Answer will be - business is business and obviously EU and these countries look to their best interests...

In other words, EU, Germany, France, UK resolve to protect Europeans doing legitimate business with Iran in line with EU law, UN resolutions..... But, what about a regime? Iranians are under iron boots of Mullahs and terrorism is really threat for the rest of the World.
