LAOIL + 33 OS December 28, 2017 hmmm ... sounds like another flop. What exactly does this 'international partnership' aim to do?
Marina Schwarz + 1,576 December 28, 2017 Well, let's look at some figures. Canada is a net exporter of coal and the UK earlier this year achieved its first coal-free day. Its coal statistics end in September 2016. Well done. I think the aim of the partnership, @LAOIL is to talk a lot about how bad coal is thus motivating other countries around the world to switch to renewables. Which they are already doing. Because there's indisputable evidence that coal is bad. So what else is new?
Joanna + 68 JT December 29, 2017 More than half of the European Union’s 619 coal-fired power stations are losing money. As a result, the industry’s slow plans for shutdowns will lead to more than $30 billion in losses by 2030 if the EU fulfils its pledge to tackle climate change. JohnAtronis + 78 JA December 29, 2017 However, in US new administration has made reviving the coal industry a signature goal of the President, and many coal miners are taking this promise to heart. The coal industry has rebounded — a bit. This has more to do with foreign demand and rising natural gas prices than any of Trump’s pro-coal policies
