Pandemonium in Venezuela.

Recommended Posts

Venezuela is surfing more and more dangerous waters these recent days after recently announced economic measures by President Maduro which has already prompted more closure of stores, threats to sanctions over large chains of supermarkets, hyperinflation gone steroids, and the new currency which already is lost in translation nobody understanding the real value of these new bills and coins and confusion reigning and looming on the horizon. What to do about Venezuela? Is it that the largest reserve in the world of oil will completely drawn in its own misery? No chance to recover soon? And more importantly what will be the future of its oil industry overall?

What is the military situation in Venezuela? Are the military leaders able to control their forces? What prevents the lower ranks from turning on the corrupt administration? What nations are actively helping the opposition? What other South American countries lean toward socialism?

No. Please see the link my next comment below.  Specifically this bit from the article (written in 2005)

"I think I have shown that socialism — actual socialism — is totalitarian by its very nature.

In the United States at the present time, we do not have socialism in any form. And we do not have a dictatorship, let alone a totalitarian dictatorship.

We also do not yet have Fascism, though we are moving towards it. Among the essential elements that are still lacking are one-party rule and censorship. We still have freedom of speech and press and free elections, though both have been undermined and their continued existence cannot be guaranteed."

History tends to rhyme instead of repeat.

Article from 2005.  Not meant to be Godwin here in the thread.  Dead serious here.  Pay less attention to the Nazi bits of the article and more to the socialism requiring dictatorship bits:

Why Nazism Was Socialism and Why Socialism Is Totalitarian

the whole southamerican landscape is distancing itself from venezuela's left even Ecuador and Bolivia. Venezuela now seems to be isolated completely.. and well the military situation is a mistery in itself since no one knows exactly whats their posture towards the government, even if the upper ranks are receiving tons

social and political control... this is what's all about in Venezuela and its government regarding its society and its population.

Jose, thank you for your personal insight of the situation in Venezuela.  Isn’t it amazing that no matter how many countries throughout history have tried and failed miserably with Socialism, people keep instituting it.

As Tom said a rhyme.  I’d add, a rhyme that keeps being repeated.  But as they say, a lie repeated often enough becomes believable.

dont worry this is my goal here to let people know the mess going on in here. Venezuela cant fall any lower in my belief. Definitely a shame and also venezuelans are not learning i believe from this mess. Government is fulfilling its goal to subjugate the population at the purest cuban style and nobody is doing anything! Unbelievable definitely.

This is a pandemonium literally... prices already gone up and i believe the new currency bills will lose their value in less than a year tops. And speaking about venezuelan oil, hard to imagine how they will recover the oil production, since i havent heard of further massive investments from china or russia in venezuelan oil fields. Simply there's no trust in Venezuela and i believe its a matter of time to see an implosion in the country.

Jose, as you are aware, Russian Oil Giant Rosneft owns 49% of Citgo.

Conoco-Phillips has settled for 2B. with a 500 million payout up front, the rest to be spread, over several years, with payments every quarter. Unknown whether this will be in cash or in oil, as the details of the settlement were under a separate sidebar NDA.

Perhaps, as in Mexico where the state oil company PEMEX, has encouraged investment by the foreign oil companies, PDVSA could do the same under different leadership.

The OAS (Organization Of American States) must step up.

Senor, you know of my personal connection to your country, and my affinity for its people.

My father left me as his legacy, his holdings there.

The educated class, the professional class, and the old Spanish families that have been in country since the time of Simon Bolivar, the landowners other than the Chavez & Maduro families, must inspire the people to rise up and demand peaceful change.

The Military will soon tire of El Presidente's empty promises.

I am confident that if they do, the free peoples of the world, will be with you.

I look forward to establishing my families HQ in The Avila once again in a free Caracas.

When that day comes, and it certainly will, you will be most welcome to join me.

I look forward to it soon.

I honestly don't understand the "first place" and scoring system of likes and dislikes.  But Please keep posting, I'm counting on your input, at least you are actually there and can offer that insight.  Venezuela is fascinating to me.  I apologize if that comes across as un-caring, not the case at all.

Jose, take heart, the USNS Hospital Ship Comfort is on its way .

U.S. Secretary of Defense Mattis ordered the ship to Columbian waters, in response to a request from the Columbian government, for aid as a result of the Venezuelan refugees, fleeing the Maduro regime.

There will be no soldiers. There will be medical aid

Con Mucho Gusto, Amiego.

Jose, the answer to your question is no, Oilprice is not erasing your topics.  The only thing we erase is spam, scams, advertising, and deliberately abusive comments about other members. Forum guidelines are here, and you certainly have not broken any forum decorum.

Perhaps some bug, I'll alert the site admin about this.

@CMOP to the white courtesy phone please.

USNS Comfort may be on its way, but you want to know what is NOT on its way? Venezuelan oil to major creditor, Rosneft

It will be if the dims win a majority in the house this year and take back the presidency in 2020.  Unlikely but it could happen since they are not even trying to hide their agenda any more.

I always counter the argument that 'far right' is fascist. Far right would be libertarian / minimal government activity in the economy except perhaps defence, courts, police etc.

If you look at Nazi Germany it was essentially a left wing, centrally controlled, authoritarian regime with a heavy dose of corporate socialism (large corporations patronised by the state). Pretty much the direction the EUSSR is heading towards presently.

They can [fall lower], and they will.  You are headed for mass starvation.

The "Maduro diet" brings mass death soon enough.  A population so weak that it cannot eat, also cannot make revolution.

Unless the OAS and the USA step in, with military force and vast amounts of free food, Venezuela will become a catastrophe of mass death.  That is what Mr. Maduro brings to his people, in his psychotic trance.
