turbguy + 1,543 January 8, 2023 (edited) If this is behind a paywall, you might try a private browser window to circumvent. https://trib.com/business/energy/demand-for-wyoming-coal-is-collapsing-seismic-changes-are-ahead-for-the-state/article_c1c779b4-8de4-11ed-8e53-a76dd4b949a4.html I believe the only economical technology that will "solve" carbon capture will be biologic (perhaps even "solar powered"). Spraying amine solutions through flue gas to absorb CO2, then heating to release it, them compressing the off-gas, takes way too much house power from the generating process to be economical. THEN, you gotta find somewhere (or someone) to put/take it... Edited January 8, 2023 by turbguy

Most CO2 capture discussions now involve removing it from the air. There is plenty of use for extracted CO2.

Removing it from air is gonna require some energy input into forceing airflow, release from a sorbent, and compression. Then, you gotta find an economical place to put it. Energy Input......I call it planting trees....most effective carbon capture mechanism known to man...where to put it.....I need one in my front yard and 4 on the side of my house............Spring is coming soon and I need to get out tree shoping...... Kinda like: "I believe the only economical technology that will "solve" carbon capture will be biologic (perhaps even "solar powered")". Literally, turn the waste back into it's original forms. No??
