domspencer2217 + 1 DS September 3, 2018 Investments in Norwegian Renewables is at an all time high - and the former Oil & Gas hub is embracing the Wind of Change Last week the public statistics authority in Norway (Statistics Norway) published its projections for investments in numerous areas (O&G, power, industry and mining). Results show that once again, investments in wind power are increasing rapidly, with the power delivery investments up by 22% so far between 2017 and 2018. markslawson + 1,057 ML September 4, 2018 Almost all of Norway's power is from hydro, meaning that it is well placed to use wind - unlike all the other grids struggling to use wind power Norway doesn't have to worry about building pumped hydro. Its already built. As Hydro power is very high value - it is both dispatchable and highly responsive (it doesn't have the warm up times required for gas turbines, you touch and go) - Norway is close enough to Europe to export the high value hydro and top-up with low value wind without blowing the grid. This is one of the few examples I have seen of wind actually being of use. Â
