My wealthy sister???

no trailer hitches on hearses .........obviously you have not convinced her what is hers is yours......

charm her?

Voodoo?

cry poverty?

Pray for her to give you one?

or just be happy that you are alive and have a car........and do not worry that some have money to waste

You can also buy 3 VW all electric AWD ID4's for the same price of one electric AWD Porsche

my money is on a practical reasonable priced AWD ID4 after tax credits under $40000

The Porsche looks like a warmed over Karmann Ghia...the little emblem on the hood is not worth the extra $100,000

New 2023 Neptune Blue Porsche Base image 1

I am sure that little emblem is very important to her ego. She was been very cordial to us on our last visit. I will consider whatever vehicle is cost effective for me, but at age 78, my 3 vehicles may not require a purchase. They have all had less than 10,000 miles per year of use. We try to spread the miles according to the use needed. Even my 3 cylinder Mirage gets us on the freeway easily enough.

ICE cars have computers too ya know.   You are pinning a non-existent social problem on EV's.

More faulty logic from the luddite crowd.   Fear change!

For giggles, what the heck are you planning on posting that is so offensive?  Maybe you should just be banned from social media altogether if you want to spread hate.

If you are really concerned throw away your smartphone, far more to fear from it than any car.

You probably still think that global warming is caused by CO2.

OK Ron what about Statistica?

https://www.statista.com/statistics/1236625/electric-vehicle-global-sales-by-region/

This shows an 82% increase in China from 2021 to 2022

There are many other sources all saying the same thing, then again some on here will just say they are made then sold and then left to rot in a field so I dunno why I'm bothering.

There is a near total lack of transparency in the Chinese data, without which we can only guess what is going on and who is potentially profiting from the investment schemes into stockpiled and unused EVs.

Exactly, you are guessing on what is going on.  Your mythical unused EVs existence at all is also a guess.

This should be quite a event...dealers no longer accepting EV orders. And it's only August...Halloween will bring a whole meaning to "Trick or Treat".

Grab some popcorn ladies&gentlemen...we have a whole new play beginning.

EVs are running out of customers — and some dealers don't want them anymore

Car shoppers can find plenty of electric options on dealership lots — while there was about 54 days' supply of vehicle inventory overall at dealerships earlier this summer, EV inventory was nearly double that.

EWS did you even read your own article?

It also said this (after you selected what you want people to read)

"That's good news for buyers hoping to test drive an EV before buying, something that hasn't always been easy amid supply shortages in recent years. It's also likely to help prices keep going even lower as inventory stacks up"

and this:-

"The jury is out right now on what's going to happen with all this new inventory there," he added. But it could solve a few big hurdles.

One of the issues with EV adoption in recent years has been availability. Many automakers weren't producing EVs at scale yet, especially in the US, and thus the supply of the cars at dealerships had been limited. They also had reservation systems and long waitlists that meant it was unlikely a customer would be able to walk into a store and find an EV for purchase."

More EVs on the lots might mean more deals are yet to come

The bottom line is lets wait and see if these vehicles do get "stranded" on the lots or whether they actually provide the opportunity to test drive them and buy them without waiting 12 months which has been the case. it will also make for more competition and drive the price down to enable them to become more mainstream.

You cant expect any industry which has suffered massively with supply constraints to suddenly finally deliver the supply required and then instantly sell the product, it will take some time so lets see what happens! if they dont sell then yeah you have a point if they do then your whole argument is rubbished.

The question at hand might well be..are EV'S a reliable..stable...desired commodity? Nope not a chance...they have priced themselves out of the market place quite easily...The fad has run out of gas so to speak.

Yeah, like all the automotive manufactures are going to turn back now.  They have invested so much and have plotted their long-term plans that are focused on EVs.

You also seem to ignore the fact they keep getting cheaper...

US EV sales up 53% YOY in July. Now over 9% of the new car market.

Plug-In Vehicle Sales

A total of 119,853 plug-in vehicles (97,320 BEVs and 22,533 PHEVs) were sold during July 2023 in the United States, up 53.2% from the sales in July 2022. PEVs captured 9.23% of total LDV sales this month.

Cumulatively, 780,294 PHEVs and BEVs have been sold in 2023. In total, 4,060,588 PHEVs and BEVs have been sold since 2010.

California now at 21% BEV

Best thing to see is the huge growth of EV sales at legacy dealers.

But of course!

The last Green Debacle fad began in 2005, by 2011 it had fizzled into a green smelly fog.

Once again the smog will rise, laced with financial failure across the globe. You can thank "Build Back Better" The world as a whole has only beginning to feel inflation/rate taxation...only beginning.

Have some fun...pencil a 50k auto loan at 9% interest...extension cords are extra.

We are trying to reduce smog. Clean air and all that :)

Inflation and interest rates effect ICE vehicles just as much.

The price difference between EV and ICE has become insignificant.  You just sound like you can't afford any car.

Worrying signs for GM as its EV sales plunge and legacy auto stares into abyss

US automotive giant General Motors sold just 15,652 electric vehicles in the second quarter of 2023, down from 20,670 in Q1 representing a drop in sales of 24%.

Over the same period Tesla sold 466,140 EVs, 30 times more than GM at a 10% quarter-over-quarter growth rate. GM sold a total of 691,978 vehicles in Q2 meaning EVs made up just 2.3% of the company’s total sales, well below the US national EV market share which is now over 7%.

GM Second Quarter Sales Results GM SECOND QUARTER SALES RESULTS. SOURCE: GM GM-EV-sales-going-backwards_02.jpg?lossy GM 1ST HALF SALES RESULTS. SOURCE: GM

The Q2 numbers are a worrying sign for the US carmaker which has talked a big game on EVs but is yet to deliver in any meaningful way. With companies like Tesla and BYD on track to hit close to 2 million EVs each this year, like many other legacy auto companies, GM looks like it’s being left behind.

Big legacy auto floundering on EVs while providing vague excuses

Just this week Volkswagen also announced that it’s cutting EV production at its Emden plant in Germany despite surging June EV sales figures in Europe. The company says the production cuts are due to “strong customer reluctance” to buy their EVs.
