Ron that makes no sense at all!

Surprisingly to some, it costs less to service an electric car than a petrol or diesel car. The average cost for a full service of an EV currently is £143.75, whereas the average cost for an ICE car comes to £174.23 - around 18% more (according to WhoCanFixMyCar).11 Oct 2023

Are you aware that there are more natural gas vehicles than there are electric vehicles in the world, and that they are far larger and are often large trucks that carry goods? That there are natural gas powered ships that sail the seas and are far cleaner than diesel run ships.

Natural gas use is far more practical than the current technology in wind and solar. It should be powering our ICE vehicles since it is cleaner than diesel or gasoline and can run any ICE engine with minor alterations and a different fuel tank.

That won't prevent the world from using both.   Wind and Solar don't have to drill, transport.

I have read that the rental companies are not able to get proper maintenance for their EV fleets and that the prices do not make it profitable to invest in stocking them. That the maintenance is too expensive for them.

Tesla is definitely not admired for it's maintenance infrastructure.

Actually Ron there arent

Globally both CNG and EV's have 26 million vehicles

"There are currently over 26 million natural gas vehicles and over 31,000 refuelling stations across the world, with over 50% of these vehicles in China, Iran, and India [13]."

"26 million electric cars roaming global roads in 2022, "

To be fair now we are nearly in 2024 those EV numbers will be well ahead of CNG now.

Ron the conversion cost to CNG is between $6K-$12K they have less trunk space are less fuel efficient and only 1% of service stations have NG to refuel

What Ever Happened to Natural Gas-Powered Cars? - Kelley Blue Book (kbb.com)

This is probably why you dont drive one!

NG is heavily used in Mass Transit.   But as battery tech advances, you will probably see more MT vehicles running on electricity.

And  you can reduce emissions, extend range with NG in a hybrid power train.

Wind and solar are fine, we have wind turbine farms near me. The biggest problem is the bright lights at night, that are overwhelming when they are blinking off and on. Fortunately I don't have them that close. The subsidies come from our taxes and energy bills also. The charges are stated on our bills but do not include the transmission. We also subsidize old nuclear plants that were to be replaced. Illinois has plenty of natural gas, but the nuclear power industry paid off the politicians to keep their licenses.

Tell it to the car rental agencies, that is the source. Just reporting.

I have been researching this for years and have posted all the information. A simple compressor system is used. Outdoor charging or a ventilated garage are needed for safety. https://www.cngchat.com/ Do your own research.

A simple compressor that costs $7K for a residential version that takes 5 hours to fill your cramped car that has no room because of the big round tanks.

You have it wrong as usual Ron. First of all the primary negative cost factor for Hertz is Tesla cutting their prices which is killing their resale value and secondly collision repair costs are higher than for ICE cars. Maintenance is lower as Rob pointed out.

The rental car company posted lower-than-expected margins for the previous quarter, and Scherr said EV repairs and Tesla price cuts affecting the resale value of Hertz's EVs by about one-third were the two main causes.

Oct 26, 2023 — Tesla has been rapidly dropping its prices to spur sales, which has lowered the resale value of the EVs in Hertz's fleet by about one-third.

Aug 5, 2022 — Rental car giant says it's making 50-60% savings on maintenance costs with its recently acquired Tesla fleet compared to fossil fuel cars.

This is just another conservative attempt to ruin America.  They do not want to lose their investments in Exxon, so they continue to drive us into Heat Death.  Yeah, Heat Death.  If you have not had significant science, you will not believe it.

Our PV solar system has powered our household and electric cars for eight years.  It paid back in three.

Do you still pay for electricity and gasoline?

The total U.S. supply of available unsold new vehicles climbed to 2.40 million units. That is up 62%, or 919,000 units, from the same time a year ago. Inventory numbers include vehicles available on dealer lots and some in transit.

Days of supply climbed to 67 at the start of November, up from 60 at the start of October. Inventory, measured as days’ supply, was 41% higher than the same timeframe from one year ago.

Plug-In Vehicle Sales

A total of 112,483 plug-in vehicles (91,537 BEVs and 20,946 PHEVs) were sold during October 2023 in the United States, up 25.9% from the sales in October 2022. PEVs captured 9.37% of total LDV sales this month.

Well as the data I provided shows the price of an EV in China is half that of the EU and the Chinese EVs from BYD, the largest EV manufacturer, are being sold in Europe at European prices. I know this is a very difficult concept for you but if you sell your car in a different market for almost twice the price you make a lot more money.

Specifically the BYD Tang is $39K to $44K in China and they are selling it in Europe for 72K euros which is about $79K dollars.
