Meredith Poor + 897 MP February 17, 2023 According to the CIA World Factbook, there are 7.85 billion cell phone subscriptions world wide. 7 billion of these are likely to be 'smart phones', with the rest being hotspots or IoT devices. Given that each cell phone has multiple CPUs, GPS decoders, touch screens, battery charging and load controllers, microphones, cameras (in most cases multiple cameras), cellular communications circuits, WiFi data communications, Bluetooth data communications, AI coprocessors, and other sensors such as accelerometers and laser gyros, I'm a bit perplexed as to how square miles of solar panels and wind turbines charging square miles worth of power storage is 'more complex' than what already exists.
