Yes, an extended Government shutdown can happen. While that may be welcomed by some voters, it's NOT welcome by the majority of voters. Every "twist" that the far-right GOP members in the House enact adds to the fracturing of the party and a deterioration in the GOP's "optics" to the voters. The Democrats know that they can exercise considerable control over the situation, should they choose to use it. I doubt they will, as any disruption in the GOP adds to their probability of winning seats in the House ( and the Senate) in 2024. As for George Santos, I scratch my head why he has not been expelled. Then I reflect on the GOP's thin margin in the House. I wish the Dems would find a better candidate for President.
