I pay no monthly health care premium, Alberta did away with that years ago as the province has lots of oil revenue. I severely shattered my finger in a accident a few years back. I saw two ER doctors, who didn't know how to handle it so they referred me to orthopaedic surgery, that surgeon referred me to a fancy hand plastic surgeon who did ORIF with 3 screws. I then had 23 physiotherapy appointments over the following months. How much do you think all that cost me out of pocket? Nothing except for out of hospital pain medication. Anything given at hospital was covered. If the average US citizen had this injury they would be out of a lot of money, or would have opted to have the finger tip amputated due to costs.
