Stormysaga + 62 AB September 19, 2018 That's what former vice chairman of General Motors, Bob Lutz claims, saying that Musk is a nice gay who doesn't know how to run a car company. Lutz pointed out how it doesn't compute that 9,000 workers in Tesla's Model 3 plant produce less than 150,000 cars a year and that the company will never make any money as its cost is ‘way too high’. Vlad Kovalenko + 115 VK September 19, 2018 Is this the same guy who was saying that Chevy Volt would save GM?
BlackTortoise + 103 CM September 19, 2018 Well, Lutz has been saying this about Tesla for years now. And this time he could be right. Especially taking into account that he was a CEO of GM when the current Tesla facility was making half of the GM cars.
Adam Varga + 123 AV September 19, 2018 Remember NUMMI, GM and Toyota joint-venture plant? They made twice the cars with half of the workforce but still had to shut down for being too expensive to operate. Lutz got a point here.
Jeffrey Brown + 208 JB September 21, 2018 Meanwhile, Tesla reported the largest quarterly loss in its history, in the second quarter of this year: https://money.cnn.com/2018/08/01/news/companies/tesla-earnings-walkup/index.html
DA? + 301 jh October 5, 2018 Nuts Lutz is just a bitter old man that's upset that his beloved gas guzzlers got shafted and helped push GM into been bankrupt. He has been saying that Tesla's going under and all that for years and so far has been wrong, even with all the effort and money that's been burnt trying to make them fail. Like many involved in the old industries they don't understand the world and technology have advanced. Maybe at some point Tesla will go under, but they seem to be doing quite well, you know with highest revenue of any car in August and September. Whats also passed over is the fact that unlike most "car manufactures" that mostly put bits together built by others Tesla builds many of it's own components giving them more profit per car. Tesla's mission is to help change the world of transportation to a more sustainable future, that they already have brought forward by many years. Seems to me all the hate of Tesla is driven by fear of change and forcing some to have to confront the fact they may have been wrong. Toughen up snowflakes the worlds going electric.
