Can trying to keep things too honest be a bad thing? I guess so when it comes to freebies like buying someone lunch etc.

Chinese Communist Party was full of corruption in 2013. Xi Jinping actions were good, but of course he also prisoned/killed his major opponents in the process. But the outcome is good for China overall. Take US corruption for exampple, campaign money for jobs and influence, the corruption at the highest echelons of power at its best.And this is specific of US where campaign  spending is going to cost billions.

If Polish  politicians where doing the same as US politicians they would be in prison for 3-5 year terms. Just the different kind of democracy. Any PAC in Poland would by judged in Poland as blatant corruption. I do not know how in Us you can live with this and still call it democracy. Of course you are much better than Chinese dictatorship but still not a role model.
