Russia, India & Iran Creating Trade Route Alternative To Suez Canal > > Through Iran

Heck why not, let's just crank up the global political pressure cooker to see what explodes first... November looks set to be the exact opposite of boring on the global Oil & Gas entertainment channel.  Expecting Trump Tweet reaction shortly.

Russia, India And Iran To Cooperate On New Trade Route Alternative To Suez Canal

After their leaders pledged to strengthen bilateral trade and military cooperation at a bilateral summit last month, Russia and India announced earlier this week that they had sealed a long-discussed $6 billion arms deal despite threats of economic sanctions from Washington. And in the latest indication of the increasingly close relationship between the two countries, Iran, Russia and Iran announced on Thursday that they would meet next month to work out the details of a massive project to open up a new sea-land transport corridor that would that would be a cheaper and shorter alternative to shipping oil and other goods through the Suez Canal.

According to RT, the North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), the name for the new transit route, will connect India to Russia and Europe via a combination of sea routes and an overland passage through Iran, according to Iranian state-owned news outlet Press TV. The 7,200-kilometers long corridor will reduce the time and costs of shipping by up to 40%. Transport time between Mumbai and Moscow will fall to 20 days. The annual capacity of the transport artery is expected to reach 30 million tons.2018_11.01maps.png.b19abe828bdaa92c993733954c6d25ee.png

Looks like it could make economic sense.  What will be the political effect?

This major infrastructure project will strengthen the relationship between Russia, Iran and India and reinforce regional cooperation structures like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (Russia and India are members and Iran is an observer having applied for full membership).

It's also interesting to note that this projects is presented just days before the return of US sanctions. It's a way to show that India and Russia are not impressed by US pressure and trade with Iran will go on despite the sanctions.

An economical decision to counter US power once again. It's no secret Russia and China will attempt to subvert any American advances anywhere in the world. Piece by piece the US is losing it's grasp on the world economy. Trump was right, IMO, to shake things up with China and Russia is just a long term feud. India has it's own problems with a billion person economy and world politics is something they don't have time for or might not even care. Trumps error in trade was treating allies disparagingly. In Trump terms...not smart. However, he who has the gold makes the rules and others in the sandbox are changing the rules as to where the gold will flow.
