turbguy + 1,553 July 20 (edited) Let's start with the potential for "Surveillance Capitalism". There is nothing in place to regulate the arise of something that gotta be a HUGE money maker. Except perhaps in the fore thinking EU. Boy, will THIS be abused (at first)! Particularly, there is NOTHING in place to prevent the arise of rogue actors. ...or most governments... ...or other "interested parties". Seems, like self-inflected pain that's gonna change a vast amount of our population's world view. THIS IS AI "STUFF" IS GONNA GO ON FAR BEYOND OUR COMPREHENSION. EVEN STAR-TREK has NOTHING like this. The spaceships will only require a "crew" of one! Disregarding "The Borg"... Hmmm...AI and the Borg: A DISTURBING Parallel?? The analogy between AI and "The Borg" is a "fascinating" one. While the Borg are (is?) a fictional "entity", there are some rather striking similarities: Collective Intelligence: Both the Borg and a potential future AI could exhibit forms of collective intelligence, sharing information and capabilities across a network. Assimilation: The Borg's assimilation process can be seen as a parallel to AI's ability to learn and adapt, incorporating new data and information into its system. Goal-Oriented: Both entities are driven by a singular purpose, with the Borg aiming for perfection and AI potentially focused on a specific objective. ...or it remains Science Fiction.
