U.S. delegation met with Iraqi Oil Minister al-Luaibi to discuss getting involved in Iraq's energy sector. Iraq's oil ministry says the US is keen on strengthening ties "especially in the oil and gas industry sector."

What does this mean for Iraq and the kurds?

I think it means that the Kurds are completely sidelined. Definitely everyone wants Iraqi oil contracts over what the Kurds have to offer without Kirkuk.
