So that's why Qatar left OPEC! Qatar just needs more infrastructure, which they are putting in place, and initiated on a grand scale a couple of years ago. The investments into LNG in Australia over the previous decade are pretty immense. Takes quite a while to add the compression trains and port facilities for the amount Qatar is gearing up for. The easy part is drilling for the gas. Between Qatar, Australia, & the small potatoes USA export capabilities, and other projects around the world, the competitive market for LNG will become better for countries like Japan.
