Shell Wins Major Wind Power Tender

Shell is really putting an effort into its renewables shift. Not that it has much of a choice but still. Here.

Why should they not have a choice? 

I remember reading that those leasing rigths are getting more and more expensive. Shell have looked at offshore wind in Europe before, but never really took the plunge in a big way. Reason being that the projects were not big and capital intensive enough for them to leverage their strength (incl domain knowledge about offshore contruction). 

what is particular interesting about this auction is that the big winners were Shell and equinor (formerly statoil). 

To me this is yet another sign that fossil fuels will co-exist with renewables.
