Cobra67 + 16 GT January 22, 2019 Interesting note regarding Tesla and the increase of Supercharger rates. They subsequently reduced the increase by 10%, but make no mistake about it, Supercharger rates went up. This is the issue with the Tesla and the subsequent roll out of EVs. Who is going to pay for the infrastructure. Companies can eat the cost of recharging stations when the fleet size is under 500k, but once you start to scale, the impact of subsidizing recharge rates becomes increasingly expensive. Early Tesla buyers received free Supercharger access (not sure if that is still in effect), but recent buyers of Tesla vehicles are not so fortunate. EVs are still better in terms of maintenance vis a vis ICE, but the idea of cheap 'refuelling' is not valid. The EV revolution will take significantly longer than the optimists planned.
