Microbio-glutonist + 61 DC January 23, 2019 (edited) It appears the reality of the EV "Dream" has come to an end. Authoritarian and Totalitarian Regimes CAN produce almost anything at a "PROFIT." Maybe the Tesla led DREAM of coerced, manipulated, and forced labor around the globe is becoming Elon's nightmare. How many people want to accomplish the "Dream" of EV if it means abusing human rights, especially in developing nations? https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/tesla-stock-price-waking-up-from-model-3-dream-2019-1-1027889899 Tesla drivers are going to have to search their souls about continued support of EVs. Willful ignorance will not suffice. Musk is losing his sanity and will not be able to continue in his current role at Tesla. Without Musk, Tesla is gone. Unofactory? China wants to push NEVs (less than 25 miles per hour) to quasi-comply with "Climate Change" mandates. Coal-fired electrical production is a mess in China, so they are trying everything to reduce their emissions. When I ask average Chinese citizens, "What are your two biggest concerns," they almost always list them as, 1. Food safety, and 2). Air pollution. Beijing is fully aware of the public anxiety over pollution in both the food supply and air quality. Phone AQI (Air Quality Index) APPS are indispensable. Pollution, NOT "Climate Change!" The bureaucrats that prepare the baseline pollution standards for use in setting the initial guidelines do so on days that the communist government has established. For example, on the day of the initial test, the AQI rating should be 100, but the Chinese government asks the SOEs to pump out maximum pollution prior to the test, hence setting the starting rate at 500 (actually between 200-500, or even greater). The IPCC then requires China to reduce that baseline 200-to-500 rating by 25% over the next 20 years. LOL! The Chinese laugh all the way to the bank! Then, to show their leadership in Climate Change, China pushes electric scooters. LOL! 100 million EVs! Because the world bought into the EVs, the Chinese ramp up coal-fired electrical production to produce even more EVs for the world market. The manufacturing is performed under coercive labor conditions. China's communist government put $60 billion into EV stimulus and has committed to another $80 billion. What is really interesting is that the money has gone mostly to SOEs, with the rest going into SMEs. The SMEs "Act" like entrepreneurial endeavors, startups. Over 400 EV startups are chasing the dream of creating interest in angel, super angel, and VC (Chinese wealthy and connected) investment. All the SMEs use the same handful of SOEs for production. The opportunities for investment in China are limited, so wealthy individuals and firms will seek these seemingly stable government-backed startup opportunities. Then, within 2-3 years, not the normal 5 years, the VC pushes for an IPO and exit. The IPOs are listed in the U.S., where a group is naive investors pay through the nose for access to the Chinese EV market. The money from the IPO goes right back to the Chinese government, SMEs, and SOEs.Many times, the money from the IPO is put into an offshore shell company. The Chinese government does not allow ownership of the actual firm in China, so a derivative firm is created offshore as a holding company. So, if any profits are ever realized in China with the startup, a dividend is paid through the sham shell company. Of course, transparency on any of this is as clear as the Paris fuel tax and Beijing sky. At least there is APEX Blue on occasion (Beijing will stop a majority of SOE manufacturing and construction for 4-5 days prior to APEX, allowing an extremely clear clean blue sky to emerge). The Chinese know the secret to clean air and blue sky is to prevent the immediate impacts of pollution. China's communists constantly redefine those two English words "Change" and "Climate" to meet their economic, political, and military demands. With the Belt-and-Road Initiative, "Change" and "Climate" will enhance their ability to regulate the economies in developing ASEAN and Asian nations in the EAP (East Asian Pacific) and beyond. The newest definition of the "CC" words is, "We can pollute, but you cannot!" The situation is a racket, with the Chinese "working" the system and playing the world. There are a few legitimate manufactures, but the overwhelmingly vast majority are chasing dollars, not EV clean air technology. Suckers!
