I don't think even our fearless Communist parties did that. And in totally unrelated news: SURPRISE!! Panera’s Socialist Restaurant Closes Due to People Not Paying for Their Food Panera Bread cares, don’t you know? And by “cares,” I mean it lets people have stuff for free. ... Donald Trump handed socialism its behind last night, to the dismay of Bernie Sanders; but Panera Bread was sure the economic system was the bees knees. Therefore, it created Panera Cares. The cool and different restaurant’s MO? It offered food at a “suggested donation” price. Doesn’t that sound nice? ... Now here’s a shock to us all: Panera Cares’ll be officially closing on February 15th. As it turns out, when you don’t make people pay for stuff, people don’t pay for stuff. Though there’s no “I” in “team,” there’s a big one in “Incentive,” ... 1
Marina Schwarz + 1,576 February 8, 2019 I feel kind of sad for all these bright minds who are taking a stab at socialism completely the wrong way. Seriously, do we learn NOTHING from history?

"Free Sh*t For All" experiment dropped: Finland Abandons 'Helicopter Money' Experiment: No New Jobs Created With socialists rising to the calls of the 'free sh*t army' and the ever-more-left-leaning liberal intelligentsia imagining ever-more-creative ways to pretend to fund their massive government interventions (Modern Monetary Theory), the topic of "QE for the people" or "helicopter money" or the more academic-sounding "Universal Basic Income" is becoming ever-more-prevalent. Why should people be forced to work? Why should people have to take responsibility for themselves? America is the land of the free to sit on your ass and receive government handouts after all. Well, we have some more results in on the impact of Universal Basic Income (UBI) experiments - handing out free money to citizens with no strings attached. ...

Meredith Poor + 895 MP February 11, 2019 Sometimes I get the feeling that this entire website is a Russian tool to spread further division in the West.A lot of the postings certainly serve that purpose, regardless of the agenda of the individuals involved. The following is a direct quote from the Green Party (US) website: "The Green New Deal will guarantee full employment and generate up to 20 million new, living-wage jobs, as well as make the government the employer of last resort with a much-needed major public jobs program." One of the points that I make to anyone suggesting that the government is responsible for 'creating jobs' is that the government is responsible for serving taxpayer and citizen interests. This means it needs a laser-like focus on productive outcomes, not inputs. The US efforts to develop a nuclear bomb during World War II wasn't to 'create jobs', it was to win a war. The same goes for the massive efforts to build ballistic missile submarines in the 1950's. Both of these things were massive 'job creating machines', but the purpose of those efforts were to save civilian lives. The US has neglected it's infrastructure for a long time, so there's plenty of work to do. However, a lot of people that 'need jobs' aren't going to do those jobs. They aren't going to get 'living wage jobs' since they are either not trained or they are otherwise compromised, due for example to drug use. 'Government created jobs' in any case sounds like the job comes to the employee - employees don't relocate to take the job. A lot of work is needed in places where no one is available. A lot of people who need jobs are living where they are due to family or because they like it there, they aren't going to move. Governments in general need to identify objectives and then carry them out. If cities need subway systems to become/remain livable, then this should be done to serve the people that need transportation services, not the employees of the construction firms or operating agencies. Often such efforts will destroy other jobs, such as for people that repair cars. Invariably a 'government created job' competes with someone working in the private sector. This almost automatically defeats itself.
Marina Schwarz + 1,576 February 11, 2019 Why this website? I've linked to a CNBC report on the topic, the quote's from there. I understand for a certain portion of U.S. society everything that strays from the official left narrative is Russian propaganda aiming at "division in the West" and I find it sad the people sharing this belief don't realise how offensive their view of their own society is as something completely monolithic and unanimous that can only be divided by external interference. The concept of the external enemy continues strong, I see. What I most appreciate, therefore, about this community here is the freedom of speech everyone is granted. We do argue and we do sometimes have radically opposing opinions on various issues but we are not being forced into one single narrative that's getting increasingly boring and pathetic, if I have to be honest and right now I feel the need to be honest. Thanks, Tom, I'll have a look at it!

Some postings simply categorize a wide swath of people as 'trash', sometimes using more specific codewords. I'm not suggesting, in any case, that the site censor any of it. Some of the people writing this stuff will end up looking for work, sooner or later, and some of this stuff will surface. Sites like this give people enough rope to hang themselves. The point is simply to raise consciousness, hopefully encouraging people to think about who might gain when they treat their fellow citizens as an 'enemy', 'crooks', or 'losers'. You call it consciousness raising, I call it classic conspiracy theorism. Personally, I see most people, regardless of nationality, as mostly stupid but not necessarily evil. I would never use the phrase "fellow citizens," however. To me, it's right out of the propaganda book, any propaganda book. By the way I haven't seen anyone here call anyone else -- fellow citizen or foreigner --- a crook, a loser, or an enemy. Could you supply quotes? It's important.

Search function is there for me. On my smartphone, it's the magnifying glass icon at the top. On the full web page the search function is fairly welk hidden under one of the options tabs. Since I rarely use a pc to access the forum, I can't remember what sub-menu the search function is hidden under on the full website version. Hover your mouse over each option at the top of the website, and you will find the search sub-menu.
