rainman + 263 February 25, 2019 The success of this week's second summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un hinges largely on whether Kim proves he's truly committed to denuclearization. One of the simplest and surest ways for Kim to do so is by disclosing a detailed, complete inventory of his nuclear program and allowing a robust verification process. But he's already opposed submitting such a declaration, saying it's no different from providing the U.S. with a target list. The summit in Hanoi may end without the submission of a nuclear declaration. But unless Trump wants to settle for the partial denuclearization of North Korea, the issue of a declaration and verification will likely eventually become a major sticking point in future negotiations as it did in past nuclear diplomacy. Before trip, U.S. President Donald Trump says "he's happy as long as Pyongyang stops tests". South Korean and other foreign assessments say Kim Jong Un likely possesses 60-70 nuclear warheads. The North also has more than 1,000 ballistic missiles. 1
pinto + 293 PZ February 25, 2019 Trump may be happy with that, but the Kim regime has a lot to answer for. I don't think there can be any peace as long as the Kim's are in power.
50 shades of black + 254 February 25, 2019 The point is that no testing means that it works and it isn't necessary to test. NK is still a nuclear threat and will be threat after Summit.

Pavel + 384 PP February 25, 2019 NK hasn't changed anything. They've developed more bombs and test sites since the previous summit. What happened to the complete denuclearization?

Sukumar Ray + 52 February 26, 2019 (edited) Trump Talks Round-1: First round of Talks with Trump has not only deescalated tension between NK , SK and Japan but also with USA. NK has not test fired any ICBM after talks. Way NK was going ahead with the ICBM launches one after the other - some flying over Tokyo causing a great distress to Trump and sleepless nights to neighbors . Trump constantly tantalizing little rocket man on tweeter with his Sabre rattlings fueled him to add great nuisance value to the world with missiles flying almost everyday not only causing huge smoke cloud in the sky but also clouded the world with imminent danger of WW-3 . Russia and China being its potent supporter and China silently enjoying the developments were totally unfazed with the distress signal emanating from SK and Japan. USA , particularly Trump with his unique personal style had been able to break the deadlock and the most hardened ice has started melting since then. Trump Talk round :2 will be able to set some achievable diplomatic targets in near future and move ahead with the talks further to create a conducive atmosphere for this hermit nation to breathe easy- in the open air and help alleviate the hardship and agony being faced by the people of this country due to sanctions from mighty Big brother. In near future as the talks from Trump moves on- people to people contact and trade and diplomatic missions are now a real achievable target and only a great and superpower nation like USA can make this rogue leader realize its limit and do thinks that are good for his country and its neighbors. Things are on right track and going ahead in the right direction, hopefully peace in the region -world peace at large can rightfully claim Nobel Peace Prize for Trump et al.
