Washington Governor Announces Run for President to Fight Climate Change

Recommended Posts

Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee jumped into the 2020 Democratic presidential primary Friday with a promise to put climate change front and center in both his campaign and his potential presidency. Given the serious risks of rising global temperatures, Inslee told TIME in an interview ahead of his announcement that climate change cannot be one item “on a list of things to do.” He pledged to coordinate an unprecedented effort to tackle the issue. “Beating climate change has to be the first priority of the United States,” he said. “It has to be the paramount duty. It has to be the organizing principle of the next administration throughout all its agencies.” The two-term governor, who previously served seven terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, enters a crowded field of candidates, many of whom have better name recognition and more buzz, and he hasn’t featured prominently in Democratic primary polling to date.

So, he’s not really a government official but rather an activist. Got it...

My view: We need to solve climate change in a generation. The president is elected for four years. Making ending systemic corruption, org.crime and improving the level of human rights and our lives are the main priorities ..

Inslee is the 11th Democrat to formally enter 2020 Presidential Race and the first Governor to do so. Hm, President Inslee? At least, I love this platform....but I'm not sure if he knows anything about anything else..

”As governor, he’s signed into law the first state net-neutrality bill, declared a moratorium on the death penalty, proposed a public option for health care and unveiled a plan to pardon thousands of low-level drug offenders.” .... Stay as a Governor.

Hadn’t you heard? “Knowing anything about anything else” is no longer a pre-requisite in American political candidacy or incumbency.

How about looking out for the Middle Class...

That is the old Democrat Party. Now the Democrats want to minimize the middle class and solidify their support by crony capitalists, the lower class, the young, the illegals, the felons, Hollywood, government employees, etc. etc.

JFK would not be allowed in the current Democrat Party.

Oil/FF was great until the population exploded creating to much demand/pollution. Let’s move the conversation to population reversal.

Except "Exterminate the Population" sounds like a losing campaign slogan.

As climate change/pollution takes its toll in treasure and lives we should have a Memorial Day for those who have suffered. A Trump parade perhaps.

I feel like celebrating all the change in the last two years despite all the attacks and roadblocks placed in the way of President Trump. Pollution in America is greatly reduced due to natural gas replacing coal and our economy is booming while unemployment is lower than it has been for decades. Meanwhile, the Democrats want free everything for potential voters.

American politics are a full contact sport so calling foul to roadblocks and attacks seems a little naive.

Giving Trump credit for nat gas and a low unemployment rate also seems a little unfair as the fracking explosion happened on Obamas watch along with the beginning of the demise of coal.  On GW’s watch the US and the worlds economy imploded but was in much better shape 8 years later along with unemployment.

Trump did pass a major tax cut wich expanded the US economy but also  ballooned the deficit which was coming down after the crash. Trump’s deficit is resembling the first years after the crash.

It may be to early to celebrate unless borrowing money against our childrens future is your goal.

Oh God!  Please do have a parade!  Call it anything you want, just get it on tape so we can all look back in 5-10-15-20 years to see if you guys were right.  But first, let's get everyone to sign a form declaring whether we each are believers, deniers, or just skeptical.  If the believers are proven right, then the parades from then on will be full of deniers and skeptics, who also have to pay for the parades, and the believers get to line the parade route and abuse us.  If the deniers and skeptics are right, then the opposite will go into effect from then on and the parade will be an annual party of relief, with much reveling, and we get to abuse the believers, who will also pay for the parades and parties from then on.

Obama did allow natural gas to go forward but was a major hindrance to having a good economy overall. He wasted billions spent on anything but the shovel ready jobs he promised. The recovery was very slow thanks to overregulation.

Obama set the record for expanding the debt. He added nearly as much debt as all prior presidents. He also divided the races and alienated the middle class. We will have to see how Trump does on the debt after eight years. I would hope that he cuts expenditures in his second term.

Debt and Presidents:  It's like a seesaw of blame after each new Admin is sworn in.  I have seen debt-by-president charts and graphs that show it both ways/opposites of each other.  How about, "We The People" control the debt and if it is not doing what We desire, We should be telling our elected officials to make it do what We desire.  We are responsible, ultimately, by the ballot box and by pressure on our elected officials.  Otherwise, we should stop throwing charts and graphs at each other based on what publication we read.

Sorry, rant over.

Unfortunately, the people do not have the wisdom to lower expenditures until everything crashes. Politicians have taught them that they can get something for nothing by voting for more welfare programs. That is of course false and a lie. It is up to responsible politicians to lead the country. Free stuff is continually offered up, and the mice take the bait. Thus Venezuela, Cuba, Vietnam, Russia, China etc.
