Egypt vs Sudan - new tensions! Who wants a war?!

Recommended Posts

A few weeks ago, Sudan and Turkey signed a naval agreement. That angered Cairo and an ongoing dispute over a dam Ethiopia is building on the Nile river that runs through all three countries. In the same time, without official announcement, Sudan recalled their ambassador from Egypt. Relationship between two neighboring countries are miles away from good. Because of latest quarrel , President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, said today “Egypt will not fight against its brothers".Turkey's trying to expand its influence, but Egypt is an obstacle.

Is it sad that two countries will fight against each other for nothing as problems can be solved easily through negotiations ?

Sudan is dealing with an acute currency shortage similar to what Egypt faced before the float. The difference is Sudan seems unlikely to get an IMF bailout, refuses to float, is on the state sponsor of terror list, and is struggling to get investment despite sanctions lifted. And, now Turkey is like a savior.

Although President  Elsisi has mentioned Egypt's intention for peace, and development efforts with all neighbouring countries, it seems to me how  Elbashir's administration still intends to market conflict existence, is such a methodology for pushing away Sudanis attention on economy

The crisis continues in the Gulf. Sudan closed their border with Eritrea as long-standing tensions with Egypt begin to flare up.

It's interesting how Egypt always uses its rhetoric when it comes the horn, and blames it on Abay, "nothing to do with the Ren-dam". Egypt understands the ultimate outcome never favors Egypt, so its uses it's puppets to stir up some fear. At the end, Egypt agrees to cooperate and work together.

No one is innocent in this crisis. As it has mentioned by President Abdelfattah Elsisi that Egypt is a country who seeks no conspiracy towards its neighbouring countries, as Egypt is a country who believes mutual benefit relationshipls ared defined to achieve sustainable development for cooperating partners. In same time they stationed their troops in Eritrea....

I  remember, during "african spring" in Egypt, message from one graffiti: " You can crush the flowers, but you cannot delay the spring." I believe how people in Egypt don't want new escalation, they want a new and better life. No more weapon.

Libya's eastern military spokesman just accused Turkey of sponsoring terrorism in Libya, too. He accuses the Turks of transporting explosives to Islamic forces in Libya. And ends with this threat:

"We will punish Turkey and all its companies. Its contracts in Libya are invalid now," said Mismari, pointing out that there is an intelligence network between Turkey and Sudan following Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visits to Sudan and Tunisia.

Political triangl and verbal war continue.  Ethiopia started building the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam in the middle of the Arab Spring, in 2011, as Egypt was unable to react. Yup.Triangle - Egypt has been assigned the vast majority of the Nile waters under two colonial-era agreements ('29, '59). Sudan gets a small fraction. Ethiopia was cut out of that agreement. 80% of the whole Nile, or 86% of the main tributary, the Blue Nile, however, flows through Ethiopia.

The Blue and White Niles merge in Khartoum. Sudan has traditionally had very tough relations with Cairo,  lately Cairo believes Khartoum is siding with Addis. The Nile and other issues are contributing to a rapid souring of relations between Cairo and Khartoum.
