Petar + 76 PP January 15, 2018 A few weeks ago, Sudan and Turkey signed a naval agreement. That angered Cairo and an ongoing dispute over a dam Ethiopia is building on the Nile river that runs through all three countries. In the same time, without official announcement, Sudan recalled their ambassador from Egypt. Relationship between two neighboring countries are miles away from good. Because of latest quarrel , President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, said today “Egypt will not fight against its brothers".Turkey's trying to expand its influence, but Egypt is an obstacle. Petar + 76 PP January 15, 2018 Sudan is dealing with an acute currency shortage similar to what Egypt faced before the float. The difference is Sudan seems unlikely to get an IMF bailout, refuses to float, is on the state sponsor of terror list, and is struggling to get investment despite sanctions lifted. And, now Turkey is like a savior.

Pavel + 384 PP January 16, 2018 It's interesting how Egypt always uses its rhetoric when it comes the horn, and blames it on Abay, "nothing to do with the Ren-dam". Egypt understands the ultimate outcome never favors Egypt, so its uses it's puppets to stir up some fear. At the end, Egypt agrees to cooperate and work together. Petar + 76 PP January 19, 2018 Yup.Triangle - Egypt has been assigned the vast majority of the Nile waters under two colonial-era agreements ('29, '59). Sudan gets a small fraction. Ethiopia was cut out of that agreement. 80% of the whole Nile, or 86% of the main tributary, the Blue Nile, however, flows through Ethiopia.
