Vlad Kovalenko + 115 VK April 8, 2019 U.S. government officials are looking to develop a domestic electric vehicle supply chain that would encourage the mining of materials for automakers and battery manufacturers. Officials plan to meet with executives from automakers and lithium miners in early May to discuss the effort. China already dominates the electric vehicle supply chain. It produces nearly two-thirds of the world’s lithium-ion batteries - compared to 5 percent for the United States - and controls most of the world’s lithium processing facilities. Mass electric vehicle production starts at the supply chain and with the raw minerals. This could be a right direction for the U.S. if wants to catch up to China on that front. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-lithium-exclusive/exclusive-united-states-sets-sights-on-china-in-new-electric-vehicle-push-idUSKCN1RH1TU
