Kind of like XKL and Line 3 which even though they have approval have been stuck in the courts by left wing funded tree huggers. What a sham! Life is good these days ! Going on an off - topic happy rant for a bit ... and will return to our regularly scheduled blatherings after this happy little detour. I'm really not joking about my happy dance. I'm bordering on manic, walking around with a face-splitting grin lately. Some people on the sidewalk burst out in spontaneous smiling when they see my overtly obvious exuberance and enthusiasm the last few days. This has been a watershed week so far for me, and the highlight is still coming on Saturday. Here's what's been going on with me, both in Oil & Gas and personal. 1) This morning I finally broke my 12 day fast. Nothing to eat for 12 days. This fasting was not for dieting, although significant fat loss was a nice side effect. The 12 day fast was for autophagy. Autophagy is the process of recycling old worn out cells during fasting and starvation. It’s an important component of anti-aging and longevity seen in caloric restriction. Fasting is the most effective way of increasing autophagy. It took me around 6 hours this morning to slowly, carefully, break my fast, to get my body re-oriented to digesting food. I feel healthier than I have in decades. Like a thorough Spring Cleaning for my entire body. More about fasting and autophagy here, here, and here for anyone curious. And a much easier 3 day fast is here for anyone interested. It took me a long time to properly prepare for this 12 day fast, and it was very much worth it. I'll do it again in another 6 months or so, this was seriously amazing. 2) On Sunday, I walked 20 miles. This was vigorous walking, with 1 kilo weights on each wrist and ankle. I've been walking around 15 miles on Saturdays and Sundays for a while, but upped the levels. The endorphins from the extended vigorous exercise were amazing. Classic "Runner's High" from pushing hard for hours. I used to be a good competitive runner in High School and University. My typical daily workout was to run 10 miles in under 60 minutes, rain or sun, sleet or snow. These days, arthritis prohibits me from running, the impact on my ankles, knees and hips is far too painful. But I can still walk vigorously, at 12 minutes per mile, for hours, with 4 kg weights for added resistance. Oh, and I walked that 20 miles on the 10th day of my fasting. And felt absolutely wonderful and vibrantly alive and bursting with energy after finishing that 20 miles. I haven't pushed that hard and that long in decades. I started at 4:00 am and finished at 8:15 am (don't try doing this in tropical sun, but early morning is still pretty cool). 3) Brent Oil is back at $70. You have read my endless conments about my opinion that $70 Oil [Brent] is the magical Goldilocks price that has all sorts of global benefits. Well, $70 Oil finally arrived again this week. Nuff said. < Happy Dance > 4) Trump decides to stick it to the Oil Pipeline Haters crowd. Which I've already yammered on about in this thread. Amuses me endlessly. Trump is a master Troll. 5) This Saturday, I will be the featured opening speaker at the Sarawak Oil & Gas Seminar Seminar & Exhibition. The organizers asked me to kick off the Seminar by giving me 90 minutes to shoot my mouth off on stage about international Oil & Gas, Malaysia O&G, and specifically Sarawak O&G. I plan to have blast. Really, I am going to have a heckuva lotta fun being (mostly) no holds barred about the Commercial and Political aspects of Sarawak Oil & Gas, and I plan to harpoon some sacred cows. Petronas plans to have a rebuttal, which I encourage. Open and vigorous debate is sorely needed in Malaysia Oil & Gas. I promised the organizers that I would behave. Good idea. Jones Act "100% local content only" for shipping has become obsolete. What was appropriate umpteen decades ago is not exactly valid today. For example, even Iraq's oil & gas excessively restrictive "local content" rules only mandate 90% local, not 100%. Allowing Korea, for example, to build a few ships to meet U.S. specs would be a good idea.
