Situation in Congo Deteriorates

The world's biggest cobalt producer is a very unstable place at the moment and the situation will likely continue deteriorating just as demand for cobalt is rising. Protests, militants, the works.

That's DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo) just in case anyone gets confused. The 'other' Congo is rich in oil and gunning to join OPEC, and a new oilfield, Moho Nord, is billed as having production potential of 117 million barrels per year.

Re DR Congo, interesting to watch the cobalt developments here. The fact that major companies are coming under a lot of pressure to stop sourcing 'blood cobalt' from DRC is leaving a gap in the supply chain that represents a great opportunity for new suppliers. It's a pretty big gap when you consider that some 60% of the world's cobalt supply currently comes from DRC.
