DanilKa + 443 May 8, 2019 Interesting... very small investment but still, happens as company divesting most of its HC production projects. Wondering if that’s just a virtue signalling https://www.marketwatch.com/press-release/pure-energy-enters-into-agreements-to-advance-the-clayton-valley-lithium-project-2019-05-01/

I generally roll my eyes at environmentalists, but I think there's room to be fair here: 1) Once you mine the lithium, it can be recycled with high efficiency. That means you need far less of it than petroleum fuels, which are once-through-only. 2) Mining is more environmentally friendly than war. I don't think the true purpose of environmentalism is the environment though. The hysteria about climate change seems to be having two effects: 1) It's weaning developed nations off oil imports. 2) It's convincing the general population to pay a lot more for energy. 3) It's moving the world towards more capital intensive products. If I had to guess, I'd say Western elites and their lawyers realized they could enrich themselves while improving their strategic position in the world. Once that's accomplished, I suspect climate change research will quietly disappear.
