C’mon Nick - $5.2 Trillion??

Nick Cunningham has written some very good articles in the past, but he reached rock bottom with this one. None of it is factually correct or supported by any reasonable analysis. It is actually irresponsible for oil price.com to publish this ridiculous of an article. He should be ashamed

If you look at the third paragraph and see what the IMF considers a 'subsidy' then the logic and the numbers become a little less ridiculous.

I consider a subsidy to be when the government shoulders a portion of the price of fuel. This artificially lowers the cost to consumers, the consumer shortly becomes to believe this is an entitlement and the government now has to raise taxes to subsidize the fuel.
