Vlad Kovalenko + 115 VK May 22, 2019 It has long been rumored that Apple plans to compete in the electric vehicle market in some capacity, ranging from supplying other automakers with underlying technologies to developing its own vehicle entirely, and new information suggests that Apple may have been eyeing a major acquisition to boost its efforts. Namely, Apple is said to have made a "serious bid" for Tesla around 2013, offering around $240 per share. That's according to Craig Irwin, a senior analyst at investment firm Roth Capital Partners, who said he has "complete confidence" in this information, but he doesn't know if the bid reached a "formal paperwork stage." https://www.cnbc.com/2019/05/21/apple-bid-to-buy-tesla-in-2013-for-240-a-share-analyst-says.html
Adam Varga + 123 AV May 22, 2019 Tesla needs a lot of cash to burn through to stay afloat while their assets get to full running operating capacity. Apple isn’t down for something like that. Apple has been acquiring small tech companies. Tesla loses money. Apple doesn't like losing money.
BlackTortoise + 103 CM May 22, 2019 Tesla and Apple do seem like a good fit from a branding perspective. Buy a Tesla, get free iPad. Drive your Tesla with your iPhone. Endless possibilities.
Stormysaga + 62 AB May 22, 2019 I don’t see a downside to something like this. Elon needs a Tim Cook style business guy at his side, much like Steve benefited from Tim’s abilities back in the day. Let Elon be Steve and let Tim work his magic on the business side.

Innovation at Apple died along with Steve. I would rather have Tesla stock languish in hell than let innovation die.
