Struggle For Supremacy: Kremlin Condemns Alleged U.S. Ultimatum To Turkey Over Missile Deal

Recommended Posts

The Kremlin on Wednesday condemned as unacceptable an alleged U.S. ultimatum to Turkey designed to force it to cancel a deal to buy Russian S-400 surface-to-air missile systems and purchase U.S. Patriot missile systems instead. Moscow was responding to a CNBC report which said Washington had given Turkey just over two weeks to scrap the Russian deal and do an arms deal with the United States instead or risk severe penalties.Turkey and the United States have been at odds on several fronts, including Ankara’s decision to buy the S-400s, which cannot be integrated into NATO systems. Washington says the Russian deal, if it goes ahead, would jeopardize Turkey’s role in building Lockheed Martin F-35 fighter jets.

Rules and regulations may apply, especially if you are a member of NATO as Turkey

Enough for now: If Turkey receives its purchase of the Russian S-400 next month, the country will be ousted from Lockheed Martin’s F-35 program and will not receive 100 of the fighter jets it has ordered, and will also face U.S.-imposed sanctions.

Turkey has knocked the door of Russia. Much before S-400

Turkey, whether we like it or not can buy what they prefer. If they want the S-400 system, it's their choice. That said, they initially wanted F-35's from the US as well. But, common sense says that they can't have both: US offensive and Russia defensive equipment. I mean, c'mon Erdogan...

Turkey has enough time to reverse course and side with their NATO allies and reject the Russian S-400....But, autocrat from Ankara has decided opposite. Seems like a no brainer to me.
