Rodent + 1,424 January 22, 2018 Not even a week after Delta Avengers made additional threats, some oil workers in Nigeria were kidnapped at gunpoint. It's tragic, but at the same time almost laughable. What does Nigeria need to do here?
Kate Turlington + 44 KT January 22, 2018 It's pretty tough now because the oil industry and the government corruption that fed it have done so much damage that it's hard to undo. They created this situation because the oil has never given back to the people and never helped communities. Total lack of trust, and at this point it's very difficult to convince anyone that the wealth (and even basic services) are going to start trickling down. Addy + 14 AW January 22, 2018 and the majority of the people in Nigeria have to rely on their own power--hard to get the citizens to see the benefit of oil industry at all, I would think. What would their motivation be to end their fight against oil and government? I don't see any silver lining for the people.
Rodent + 1,424 January 22, 2018 To clarify, the laughable point was in reference to Nigeria's ineptitude, not someone being kidnapped.
