damirUSBiH + 327 DD May 31, 2019 The Kremlin said on Friday that it was Turkey’s responsibility to stop militants in Syria’s Idlib province from firing on civilian and Russian targets. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the comments when asked about a suggestion from Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan to implement a ceasefire in Idlib. A Russian-backed Syrian government offensive in the rebel-held northwest, the most serious escalation of the war between President Bashar al-Assad and his enemies since last summer, has uprooted around 250,000 people in the territory, the last significant rebel stronghold. canadas canadas + 136 c May 31, 2019 (edited) It is interesting that this attack on Idlib has happened right after Turkey finalized the S-400 system deal with Russia and Iran is starting to feel economically squeezed by Trump's sanctions with regards to its foreign military expeditions. The Syrian opposition has been let down by its so-called supporters in that they never got the MANPADS that they needed in order to better defend themselves from air attacks. Also, an important thing that was overlooked yet should have been mentioned with the above especially on this oil related forum is that ever since Iran has restarted in early May with the delivery of crude oil by sea tankers to the Syria Banias refinery the beginning of the attacks on Idlib tended to coincide with this.
