Adam Varga + 123 AV January 26, 2018 The renewable energy is challenged with finding ways to store it on days when there's no sun or wind. German technology company Sonnen is working on the solution for this. It is creating a battery that not only stores residential renewable energy but also allows users to trade their excess energy with others.
Vlad Kovalenko + 115 VK January 26, 2018 German has definitely stepped into renewable energy. Wind turbines and solar panels became something you can see on almost every house, not only in urban part of this country but also on the most rural farmhouses. Selva + 252 SP January 26, 2018 I don't think this is something new. Tesla already did the same thing in South Australia with the world's biggest lithium ion battery. Same thing, same lithium, even the price could compete with Tesla's. Just $7,000.
Adam Varga + 123 AV January 26, 2018 Yes, but if you look at that in the long run, it's very easy to calculate that in 20 years you will save a lot of money compared to buying power from the grid.
Vlad Kovalenko + 115 VK January 26, 2018 20 years? Too long to calculate. Don't even like to think that far in the future. I like fast solutions.
Rodent + 1,424 January 26, 2018 20 years is too long to see a return on an investment. They'll need to do better than that. Is that really the timing for ROI?
Selva + 252 SP January 26, 2018 Not really. Unless Adam is talking about 20 years of an expected lifetime of this battery.
