IN this instance, that was obviously a misplaced expectation.

For the best interest of the world, is it safe for the rest of the world or most of the world that Iran posses the capability to use nuclear materials to make weapons? Their actions and rhetorics dont warrant that they be allowed to have these. If it's about rhetorics... we could also say the USA should not be allowed to have nukes. The current president posted several threats to destroy other countries. Remember : "that will be the official end of Iran" (Twitter) or "we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea,” (UN speech). Not so far from the Iranian threats to "eliminate Israel from the Earth".

Lets see yes, who would have stood up and put an end to all that? Have those two countries not threaten to develop nukes for the purpose of destroying countries they dont agree with for religious and or political reasons? Lets see will Russia, Venezuela, China, Australia, France, UK, India, Vietnam, oh wait, Switzerland do anything to force them to abandon their wanton lust of destroying another nation? a group of people? If it wasnt for the US , today, more than half the world would be doing a certain type of salute and pretending to or really enjoy sauerkraut!!!

Remember they wouldn't let the US fly over their air space to bomb a certain Libyan dictator? Got one of the kids but not the Man himself, Colonel Gaddafi. Sure made a believer out of him no thanks to French gov. No reasoning with Iranian leaders with a pacifist attitude. They have proved not trustworthy and I am still for fair warning of "get the women and children outta the city" then drop a dozen MOABS. Strike every facility that can enrich. I am sure there are a few nations left on our side to see this thru. Want stability, sometimes things gotta get ugly first. 40 yrs is long enough reign of fanatics running Iran. The Shah was forward thinking, and we had a President that didn't want to get involved and so here we are today......still with an Iranian threat. "When you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail." Bombing is never the best way to solve the problems but when you have an oversized military budget like the US has, you end up believing that every problem has a military solution. The Iran deal was an effective diplomatic way to address the problem and every well informed observer said Iran was complying. Then a bunch of guys (mainly Trump, Bannon and Netanhyahu) decided that the deal was an horrendous agreement and chose to replace the efficient diplomatic containment policy by a dangerous military escalation. Another sad case of US hubris.

Another sad case of US hubris. Ask the countries surrounding Germany if Bombing non-stop didn't strike fear into Hitler. Like I said, sometimes things get ugly before the beauty can return. Diplomacy hasn't worked for 40 years because in reality the Iranian Government aren't nice folks. If they could nuke Israel at this moment they would. Sending crates of USA cash during the Obama administration didn't seem to stop them from enriching, so options are limited. So as a realist, I see the need to wipe 'em out and help the people rebuild to their former beauty.
