EPA withdraws air pollution policy

Recommended Posts

US Environmental Protection Agency is withdrawing a decades-old air policy aimed at reining in some of the largest sources of hazardous pollutants like mercury and lead. Sources of air pollution previously classified as "major sources" may be reclassified as "area" sources when the facility limits its emissions below "major source" thresholds, the EPA said. Area sources are subject to less strict pollution control standards than major sources.

It is not dramatic as it seems. This guidance does not change anything with regard to facilities emitting more pollution. It allows facilities who have done a good job REDUCING their pollution to drop from an arbitrary category of "major source" to one of a "minor source". That involves less paperwork but again, does not change actual emissions or regulations.

In some Chinese cities, they have to build giant TV screens so people can see the sun on a TV because the smog is so thick. See, there is always some solution

The usual over the top hysteria from environmental activists. this country used to have great chemical industry and hundreds of thousands employed. Now its been reduced to local level and we have to rely on suppliers from hostile countries in South America & the Middle East for our needs.
