damirUSBiH + 327 DD August 6, 2019 A peace deal with the Taliban will be like a deal with devil. They will agree with all the terms, go thru the motions, and then overrun Kabul, impose Talibans rule, murder all the officials, and send the populice to re-education camps....

Peace with Taliban, hard to believe.. I really don't care if there is peace or not. We tried to help, didn't work, pull our people out and move all the excess or obsolete equipment to Kurdistan.

Not an American problem. Get our people out. Perhaps China can help them out....my mistake, China only gets involved anywhere if it benefits them. What was I thinking! Tomasz + 1,608 August 10, 2019 (edited) So you lost in Afghanistan like USSR 25 years ago. Longest war in US history and finally Taliban will probably conquer whole Afghanistan. Until today no one ever won war permanently there and USA is another empire who lost after British and Soviet empires,. 30 years later a much better military technique, a larger annual budget, finally allies-vassals supporting the hegemon and the end result is the same .Another armed conflict lost by America after the end of World War II. Not so much for military but for political reasons - we won the initial invasion and lost the peace like in Vietnam or Iraq.
