Will Big Auto Kill EVs?

Tesla bit back at Hong Kong yesterday after tax rebates were pulled in a move that really hurt Tesla and other EV makers. The line of thinking is that the big automakers were the ones lobbying for the tax incentive removals. Are EV incentives in jeopardy from the automakers, or is big auto really going to get onboard with making EVs of their own? Seems to me like they are progressing toward adopting EVs. What say you?
