Trump will capitulate on the trade war

I find this to be a rather curious statement.  During any course of events, results can be evaluated. How else can any course be monitored?  Per your comment, seems we are to ignore any and all consequences/results until the course reaches its conclusion?

Actually, I have seen some results from the trade war with China. Foundries starting up and making steel again. An aluminum plant going in in Kentucky to supply the automotive and aerospace markets and bringing over 600 good paying jobs to a small town. Those are the kind of things we like to see. I have also seen disclaimers on company websites that tell the prospective customers that they will not get products with materials made in China, India, etc. And to be honest, the tariffs do not make any real difference in the price of goods made in the US with materials from China(steel). A couple of percentage points at worst. Now on finished goods from China it is a different story. The tariffs are steep enough that I can sell someone something made in the US instead of China, and it warms my heart to see that happening. Finally some justice for American workers....

How's that wall going? Did Mexico pay for it?

Actually, if the new trade deal goes through as is right now, they in effect will be paying for it. Besides, most people don't even realize that Trump had NOTHING to do with wanting to build a wall across the Mexican border. Bush Jr signed it into law while he was in office. Obama actually did fund and build another section of the wall while he was in office, so this whole wall thing has actually been going on for about 12 years or so now, give or take. So, my answer to you is YES, they will be paying for it, if not in direct cash then in a better trade deal that will be a lot more even sided than before, and their people get some real benefits as well.

Did either USA or China mention 'deal' or sign anything other day by the way? All I heard was 'phase 1'. It means nothing, and China already say they wanna return as Winnie not happy with it? So they go back on their word? Shocker. Like when they took load of clauses out that they agreed on?

''I will sign absolutely anything, but when I see the part about it being checked in the future I will delete those parts as I have no intention of keepng my word anyway'' - Big Brother Pooh.

Ah, Bloomberg just said China wants more talks before signing anything. So ... there is currently no deal?

So Trump has 'capitulated' on a non existent deal?  You got me.

Doubtful those are directly tied to any trade manipulation by trump.

Startup plans for major projects often take longer than this whole war.

Has the US domestic price of those commodities (Steel, Al) drastically increased? China imports decreased? Actual questions - ideally present graphs showing those prices responding to trump announcements. With China not Canada.

Accept that trump sucks; or the null hypothesis that there really is no statistical difference between both garbage sides.

Not all you Trump fans think alike. My brother for example is a huge Trump supporter but instead thinks Obama was the worst president in US history because of policies he enacted. Obama is the Dems eh?

Yeah he was, I meant current Demo candidates for 2020. I hear no policies that aren't kinda laughable.

Wait, you're saying your bro likes Trump and hates Obama? That's probably true for most Trump fans isn't it? I just read your sentence again. I'm not being sarcastic.

Umm... okay just massive promotion and promises?

This is the logic I deal with around here and I get flak.

Trump just capitalized on what a lot of Americans are thinking. The wall was LAW way before Trump was, he just capitalized on the idea, not that he really needed to, we wanted to see our economic growth go up, up, up. Not down down down like it was during the entire tenure of the last POTUS. And like him or not, the economy has gone up, up, up since he got into office. Obumba sits back and brags that these are HIS policies that are bringing up the economy, but he is so full of crap his eyes are brown. And no, what I wrote is NOT wrong, Bush built some sections of the wall and so did Obama, it was signed into law towards the end of Bush's term, I remember thinking that it was about time, but the whole thing died under the news that we were going to have to bail out giant corporations that had managed their money so poorly that they were about to fail. More money for the billionaires from the taxpayers pockets......

I keep waiting for the deficit and the debt to drop, a campaign promise. Oh, along with rolling year after year 5% GDP growth. Of course your anti Trump if you bring up these small details.

Can I see the results of these trade wars? Is our trade balance level with the world? Wonder what the betting line on that is.

The odds are better his presidential library will be in a casino with gold toilets.

He’d probably have done much better if the House had spent some time working for their constituents (you know, that thing they were actually elected to do) instead of spending their time obstructing ANYTHING Trump tried to do, whether it was good for the nation, as a whole, or not.

Doug you want to live in the UK!

Look at the complete pr*cks we have got all scurrying round like rats to protect their own interests with Brexit, rather than putting the country first and representing the constituents who voted leave.

as I have stated previously I am a  "remoaner" as DT would say but I believe in democracy and we just need to get this thing done!

Sorry to hijack the thread  somewhat!

Haha ''Trump will capitulate'' is now about Brexit. Love it.

It's not my phrase Rob, you wanna get on with it atleast so you're not a 'remoaner' to me. Potentially a 'remainiac' though ... :)

Doug is in Malaysia surrounded by hotties. Trust me he doesn't wanna come to UK ...

obama is a physical manifestation of the degeneration of the Democratic party, it all started with him and hilliary(I know it started before these two, but the real downslide started with them). They are so desperate now they will promise ANYTHING to their voters. beto has already let the cat out of the bag by shooting off his fat mouthed ignorance. warren is so dishonest who in their right mind would trust her to do anything she said. bernie is a millionaire that hasn't managed to raise one single person out of poverty while fattening his pocket s over the last several decades. biden, well biden has been found to be the single most corrupt of the lot of them, why would anyone in their right mind even consider him for president, and I really hope they dig up the real dirt on him and he has to drop out because he is arrested and on trial.....obama was the worst president in the history of our country, the lowest average GDP of any president on record, and one of them had a worldwide depression going on and still did better then obama, policies and laws that the majority of us didn't want, but he forced them through anyway, jammed down our throats like bad medicine....

With the assistance the U.S. Democratic Party has given Xi why would he cut a deal with Trump.

The Tariffs are taking their toll but China will hold out for another year.

Like you said now China wants more talks.  They promised to buy some ag products. BUT WANT TARIFFS DROPPED IF WANT TOTAL OF $ 50 BILLION.

Bate and Switch.

If U.S. Dem Party put population first the U.S. would have China Trade Deal, Iran Deal and N Korean nuke deal.  The World would have a booming economy.

U.S. is screwed up.

Going to be interesting couple of months. Don't think Trump likes to be played for a fool.

World will now see if Trump capitulates before end of year.  Have to give him credit for trying.

It all comes down to Power and Money.

Russia, China and Democratic Party will do anything to thwart U.S. President.  It's working.

Democrats, Russia, China vs. Trump

Who wins ?

Let's drink to that:

Secretary Steven Mnuchin and US Trade rep Robert Lighthizer with Chinese Vice Premier Liu He and the Chinese delegation at a working dinner during the 13th round of trade negotiations.

(This big picture shows clearly that winners are the grinners.)

Oh yeah. Case closed. Liu He is smiling. Kudlow looks grumpy.

Can I go down the photoshopped route now?   :)

Won what exactly? The right to go back to China, Winnie wants more talks, and they're coming back?

Wow that 'battle' will go down in history. What a 'win'.
