And the lack of answers to how green you are I notice

2 or 3 cars on driveway?

Boring hypocrisy

I have one car and it's a little Toyota Yaris - goes forever on almost no gas.

Did you not notice the fed rate cut? No comment on stimulus measures...

False logic to think all-or-nothing.

Comment on trade not me. Rebut the rate cut.  Rebut the devaluation of the USD.

Course it's bad logic, then it means you can give the big one to others, despite being no greener yourself. Hypocrisy is the word.

Convenient, like your ignoring of constant Chinese devaluation.

You're boring me.

Have another drink.

I've done more for the environment than you can possibly imagine. https://www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/services/environmental-enforcement/notifications.html

I will. Cheers 🍺

Look at the currency exchange rates - the USD is devaluing.

Plus the US Fed interest rate cut.

So stimulus measures and the buck buys less... #trumpLogicWin

I guess we’ll all just have to wait and see,

My money is on Trump, not Xi,

I am a poet,

And didn’t even know it!

LOL it's just so dull.

Chinese figures?  ''err, but Trump ...'' (because the Fed IS Trump, clearly ... they agree on loads).

Polar bears?  ''err, but Trump ...''

Trump, like hundreds of millions of people thinks climate 'change' is a joke   ''err, but Trump ...''

Brexit?  ''err, but Trump ...''

Trudeau thread?  ''err, but USA ...''

Boring. And if you saw #notajournalist you must have seen #ignoreuser

Only in your mind... I didn't bring up trump at all in many of those threads.

Trudeau jokes are deflection of the trump hilarity - like "we have to find something embarrassing about another leader quick!"

Thankfully trump is an unending fountain of jokes.

Trump will capitulate on the trade war.  Why?  The key lies in who rescued Trump from his bankruptcies, who is the same person to support Trump financially in his election campaign.  That person made his billions in casinos.  That person has a casino in Macau, and that casino provides the great majority of cash flow to that person. The lease and operating licence on that casino is about to expire.  That casino is in SAR Macao, now part of China, and all lease/licence renewals will require Beijng approval. Readers can connect the dots from here.  Of course, the Trump propaganda machine will paint an entirely different picture, and the dumbed down drugged up 'murcans will believe.

We ll see coming out ot mango soon

It is not Europe’s (or anyone else’s) responsibility to facilitate reasonable living conditions in Africa

It migth surprise you. But I agree. All I am suggesting a cost / benefit analysis. I believe that Europe will get a lot more bang for their buck in terms of limiting illegal immigration and the problems that comes with it by investing (through the measures I mentioned above) in making living conditions tolerable in Africa. I believe a similar case can be made with US towards latin America. And the war on drugs.

A great example is how Switzerland deals addicts. At first glance it seems foolish to reward bad behaviour like that, but the benefit to society is clear.

I believe that many people making small changes will have a big impact. Why does it need to be black or white?

Well Doug and I have photos as part of the masquerade. We made the effort.

Anyway, back to topic .... Trump hasn't capitulated.

Sorry trolls. Try harder.

To try to stay on topic as DT suggested, there can be no winner in a trade war.

To suggest "Trump will capitulate" as the thread title suggests is ludicrous.

Both USA and China will be weaker as a consequence of the trade war, which Trump (rightly in my view) has started in order to try to rectify the blatant tech theft China have been doing for decades.

We can only guess at who will be the bigger loser long term in all of this.

This is why I keep asking what changes these people have made to their lives, rather than telling others they should be greener Greta style. And the constant silence suggests hypocrisy. It's boring. Ethanol style.

Like whinging for 3 years about an elected person. Boring. If the 'dark side' is seeing through people's crap then yes, been on that side my whole life.

It doesn't, but to use your analogy, I'm sick of the 'pot kettle black' from people who are no greener than I am.

Sorry if I am missing something, but in the context of this thread @Enthalpic said he drives a yaris that gets insanely good mileage. If everybody did that the world would consume a lot less oil... Just sayin'

LOL great. You converted me. Car sharing or not driving at all would use even less?

No need for the protests now, a guy drives a Yaris. His life is dominated by oil and plastic but he drives a Yaris. He can now tell others about 'climate change'.

Meanwhile no protesting in Asia or Africa or South America still. Trump bad. Europe bad. Zzz.

Whatever.

I am a pragmatist. No point in abanding common sense. Doesn't mean we can't take baby steps.

A big picture comment : I think the fossil fuel industry could do a lot to get rid of all the protest if it promoted fuel efficient cars and products. The pendulum swings. The protest are a reaction.

Rasmus if we all did something I agree the sum of many small deeds adds up to something substantial.

DT as you know we cant all just give up oil derivatives overnight as the practical alternatives just aren't there.

It doesn't make people hypocrites unless they get on their soap box and start the climate change blame/shame game.

We can all make small differences which end up helping, if that is your belief.

Abandoning common sense is not doing anything towards the biggest culprits on the planet, where nearly HALF the planet live.

Western baby steps are a little pointless therefore. If it makes you feel better then great. Still driving, still using oil, still using plastics.

Can people not do their homework then? We need industry now to promote these things first? Then people can feel better as they drive to and from the protests?

Whatever mate seriously. I damage the planet way less than any of you.

Still driving what though? see link below on EV batteries and Co2

I do agree that  Asia in particular need to come to the party as it wont make much difference what we do in the West if they dont, but yeah i feel better that I do something rather than nothing.

You say "I damage the planet way less than any of you" how do you know that? Big statement that cannot be substantiated for anyone on this site. You may be right but more likely not.

You are clearly passionate about the subject and probably practice what you preach whenever you can, but don't decry the efforts of genuine people trying to do their bit.

Chill DT, me and Rasmus good, Asia bad!
