Iran Burning: Shock Gas Price Hike Triggers Violent Protests After Subsidy Cuts

Have the Iranian people had enough of their Religious Dictatorship government?  Gasoline prices have doubled and tripled.

I've worked with Iranians, and have no problem with the Iranian people.  The problem is the Iranian totalitarian government.

Iran Burning: Shock Gas Price Hike Triggers Violent Protests After Subsidy Cuts

With protests and unrest raging in multiple hot spots around the globe from Latin America to Hong Kong to Lebanon and Iraq, it could be Iran's turn to join in.

Amid a fresh price hike in gasoline — the latest in a string of woes to hit the sanctions ravaged Iranian economy, ultimately making life miserable for the common populace — rare mass protests have broken out in multiple cities

Protests and clashes with police began Friday when petrol prices suddenly rose by at least 50% after government subsidies on it were slashed. Government statements said the plan is to divert the funds in order to make cash payments to low-income households.

In essence Tehran authorities dubiously claim they were forced to "free up money" to assist the poor; however, it appears more drastic scrambling as Tehran struggles to find global purchasers to offload its oil.

#Iran, Nov 16- Millions of citizens across the country take to streets, closing the roads to protest against tripling gas prices. Video sent form the city of Shiraz.

And as of Saturday Reuters Persian reports that gas prices have tripled, taking millions of angry middle class demonstrators to the streets across the country.   ...

I think the main catalyst was they got beat by Iraq 2-1 in the 2022 world cup qualifiers, and the gas price I guess, this picture is of Iranian fans pissed they couldn't get in the stadium.

CIA orchestrates protests in sovereign nations to destabilize them: Analyst

Press TV asked Lendman whether Pompeo and other US officials were feeling the pain of the Iranian people and empathizing with them or trying to exploit the situation which was actually caused due to harsh US economic sanctions on Iran.

“Often when protests occur against sovereign independent governments the US targets for regime change, they're orchestrated by the CIA to destabilize nations,” Lendman told Press TV on Sunday.

“It happened a number of times in Iran before, US dirty hands all over them. I suspect something similar now. Clearly, US dirty hands are all over months of protests in Hong Kong, attacking China's soft underbelly to try destabilizing and weakening the country,” he added.

US Secretary of State Pompeo’s feigned concern for the Iranian people is pure hypocrisy. The wise Iranian people understand the machinations of the US hegemonists, according to Dennis Etler, an American political analyst who has had a decades-long interest in international affairs.

@James Regan  I hope you realize the articles you are quoting are from PressTV which is Iranian-government-sponsored news.  Think along the lines of an Iranian version of CNN.

While PressTV can have some interesting articles, and can tackle topics that Western Mainstream Media don't want to touch, please do be aware of their inherent pro-Iranian-government and anti-West bias.  Your mileage may vary.
