White House considering steel and aluminum tariffs

Recommended Posts

The Trump administration on Friday said it was weighing broad-based tariffs and quotas to curb imports of steel and aluminum to protect national security, though officials stressed no final decisions had been made and the final policy could be limited. If Trump decides to severely restrict imports, the move would almost certainly lead to retaliation against U.S. exports around the world, as well as litigation at the World Trade Organization.

It's a global economy now. This economic isolationist policies are relics from the late 19th and early 20th century. This administration is going to destroy a good economy and cause hyperinflation.

Someone should tell this administration, even though they should know since they are all in late 70's, what happened the last time the U.S. put tariffs on steel. It did not benefit America.

No amount of protectionism is going to put these people back to work...Not until they get training, but I am afraid we are losing jobs to automation/robotics/computing.
