Kate Turlington + 44 KT February 20, 2018 The Islamic State just killed 27 Iraq militiamen near Kirkuk...Maybe they were a bit hasty in taking Kirkuk back from the Kurds, which were largely responsible for fighting back ISIS in the first place? Carlsbad + 19 CB February 20, 2018 Well, to be fair, the Kurds can't get their act together internally, so it wasn't just because of the Iraqis that they lost Kirkuk--it was internal divisions.
Seleskya + 50 AS February 26, 2018 Now more trouble is brewing. Iraq's plans to truck the oil it takes from Kirkuk into Iran (now bypassing the Kurds) is meeting with security problems and is being delayed. That's up to 60,000 bpd per day from Kirkuk that should be swapped from Iranian oil. Iraq's plans here are falling apart.

Longer term they are still planning a pipeline as well, which would take the place of the current plan to move it to Iran in tanker trucks. So they have a plan to replace the current plan, which hasn't even been implemented yet. Which all seems very disorganized to me. What kind of security problems are we talking about here? And will the pipeline solve the problem, or will the current security issues need to be dealt with first?
